I think it's a good move he was on a crappy team last year. You can't judge him based on last year. He's an upgrade over JJ he can do more on the field we can still draft a young RB

Would rather have him pass protecting, and carrying the ball down the stretch than a rook. He would be a very good fit for this team, and would really make our offense more versatile catching the ball out of the backfield and running screens.

Besides he is great in the locker room, and would be a good teacher for a guy like Jones, Johnson, Stewart, etc.

How old is he?

I don't buy he is over the hill. He played on a horrible team last year. I think it would be a nice move.

RB Dunn has interest in Dallas Cowboys

Warrick Dunn is interested in the Dallas Cowboys, and the veteran running back is waiting to see if the feeling is mutual.
Dunn's agent, Jim Steiner, reached out to Dallas on Monday to gauge interest in his client, who was released by the Falcons earlier in the day. The Cowboys are taking a wait-and-see approach, preferring to see where the market for Dunn goes before making a serious move.
Dunn, 33, was released in large part because the Falcons signed free agent Michael Turner to a six-year, $34.5 million deal on Sunday.
Dunn is one of 22 backs in NFL history to rush for more than 10,000 yards, but he gained only 702 yards on a 3.2-yard average in 2007 after three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in Atlanta.
Cowboys coach Wade Phillips was with Dunn in Atlanta in 2002 and '03, when Phillips served as the Falcons' defensive coordinator.

Warrick Dunn ran for 702 yards in 2007 for the Falcons after three straight 1,000-yard seasons.

The situation at tailback is unsettled in Dallas, with Marion Barber a restricted free agent and Julius Jones an unrestricted free agent. Tyson Thompson, the third-string back in 2007, was not tendered as a restricted free agent.
The Cowboys placed the high tender of $2.562 million on Barber, retaining matching rights and forcing any team trying to sign him to pay a compensation package of first- and third-round draft picks.
New home for Hoyte: Fullback Oliver Hoyte, released by the Cowboys last week, was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs.

I really think Dunn would be a perfect fit for the right price and would still allow us to draft a young RB but would make it so much less of a priority.

No thanks. Talk about over the hill.
I still remember that 80-yard run he broke off against us when he was with Tampa. That was about 7 years ago, though.

Frankly, I'd take Julius Jones back over Warrick Dunn. Either way, no urgency to sign anyone here, let the market sort things out first.

Who knows how interested we are or would be... But if we signed Dunn, between him and Zach Thomas, you'd almost think Wade thought we needed what a lot of posters want -- more professionalism and leadership. Both Thomas and Dunn are absolute pro's pros and could teach our young players a lot about how to conduct themselves.

I personally don't see how Dunn would make us a better team except for being a third down back since he does have good hands and does a decent job at blocking for his size.

At his age though, I probably would pass as I would rather see a younger back get some more reps then someone like Dunn.

Yes, he is a high character guy, but what the Boys need is a fiery, leader type guy, not just a high character guy. I would prefer other FA backs besides Dunn.

My preferred FA backs would be as follows in order:

Derrick Ward - showed flashes of being a very good back, but injury prone.

Aaron Stecker - Always seems to come through when McCalister got hurt.

Rock Cartwright - Very tough back with some fire who can also return.

Tatum Bell - Had some flashes in his career, but lacks consistency.

Dunn = speed and heart. You can have a screen fest with him in the game. Hopefully we're interested.

I say pass on Dunn, he's taken too many hits over the years.
It's not like he'd be taking over the RB position. It's gonna belong to Barber the majority of the carries and he could fill in when necessary. Granted, our O-Line's blocking is pretty lame and he'd some holes to run thru and we usually arent that great if we dont have the 2 TE set.

You forget who our quarterback is?? It's not gonna work on him. Maybe it would put Crayton's big mouth in check, but aside from Barber, we dont have a "fiery" offense.

Me too. We could use a guy of his character on this team. All around great guy.
