Pulling off the Hershel Walker trade was the greatest move by Jerra. His list of great moves is not a short list. Unfortunately, his list of horrible moves is also not a short list.

i imagine for anyone owner / gm with his tenure te horrible list would be a pretty hefty one.

snyder? good lord, he's writing a book on how to NOT run an NFL franchise.

look around at the other teams. arizona. cleveland. minny, tampa, atlanta, tennessee, giants, green bay - the list goes on and on and on. we pick on jones cause we see him all the time but let's compare career for career.

usually here is the "but what have you done for me lately" crowd kicks in and there's a point to this one too. but you still have to compare career vs. career unless you've got an anti-jones boner then you just scream a lot regardless.

in all yes i'd like to have more success. who wouldn't? but there are not too many owners i'd trade jones for.

Peyton never won a title in college.

But the year after, Tee Martin led them to one.

In fact, Peyton got the same rep that Brady is getting now.

Peyton won a Super Bowl. And he will go down in history as one of the best QBs ever.

Don't tell anyone and just keep this between us but Troy Aikman had the same rep in college and that's why Jimmy drafted Steve Walsh with the supp first rounder.

All that said, Troy never had accuracy problems in any football camp of any type, ever....

Snyder's horrible list in much longer and his great list would look like this:

1.

Manning and Aikman both never won a lot of big games in college. But I guess that sort of thing is ignored now. cutler was stuck at Vanderbilt- a truly bad deal for a talented QB. But I guess that doesn't count either.

I could counter with the point that no college quarterback received the quality of coaching that Quinn received under Charlie Weiss.

Unless someone can name another college player who received two years of Pro level/Super Bowl level coaching prior to entering the NFL?

That's why I think that Quinn may not have much upside and may have looked better in college than he actually was.

But like others have said, only time will tell......

he's still looking for that first, yet elusive, WAY TO GO DANNY BOY! : )

Danny Boy was cursed the moment he bought the skins. He is doomed to forever fail.

Quinn also spent two years under Ty Willingham. People may not think too much about Ty, but at one time he was a well regarded NFL assistant coach. Quinn has received some good quality coaching in college.

Losingham has shown no ability to coach QBs.
And I frankly find it hard to consider him as a quality coach.

All those Jealous of the Irish pile their hatred on every chance they get. I love it myself- keeps me warm.

The verdict on the draft day trade with Cleveland is still out. Although it looks like a good trade on paper, we realistically wont know if it was a good deal for several more years.

I compare this trade with the draft day trade we made with the Bills a few years ago. My view on that trade has wavered a bit over time. I think the jury is still out on that trade and it was made several years ago.

I am kinda wishing at this point we would have stayed pat and took Steven Jackson, and I was one of the people who liked the trade at the time.

I don't 'hate' the Irish - far from it.

But I don't 'annoint' someone because they played there either.

I figure that making excuses for Notre Dame players is as bad as criticizing someone simply because they played there.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

I think that's a great point.

And I feel the same way about it.

I figure this is the year where we can make the final verdict.

Wow a rookie QB struggling in early June what a shocker:eek:

What the heck did the Pats wait a whole year and an injury before they started Brady. I mean he is a Super Bowl MVP that means he had to look like Joe Montana his 1st ever Mini Camp and OTA's.

Also shocking is a guy who had accuracy problems in college under the best coaching imaginable would continue to have accuracy problems in the Pros.

He lifts with the offensive linemen because he's one of the strongest quarterbacks to come into the league in years. At the combine in Indianapolis, he benched 225 pounds 24 times.

don't know how well he throws the ball, but he's got it in the gym. that's some serious strength for a guy his size.

Ridiculous. Quinn has an incredible college career.

Football is a team game, nobody can do it all by themselves.

If quinn averaged 50 points a game, ND's secondary would have given up 51.

Except when it's the Cowboys and one player always costs us games.

Quinn was always more hype than substance, after all what good QB can't run up the score against the academies.

Exactly, just like Tedford's products.

I thought Fasano's excellent pro-style coaching was going to help him succeed right away, too. Not.

Kinda hard to push your way onto the field and get noticed when you're about the 5th option on any play.

Great.

Now we are going to have a ten page discussion on Parcells.
