Chad speaks out on ... I'm not quite sure what

Chad Johnson appeared on NFL Network moments ago, and spoke out. That's for sure.

What's not really clear is exactly what he was saying in regards to his status as a Cincinnati Bengal. Mixed signals have come from his camp on whether he'll be able to play on the banks of the Ohio River in 2008.

Johnson refused to answer questions on if that'll happen or not, saying that his people had already said what needed to be said on the subject.

Then, he was asked what he was looking for.

"Change, a change of scenery," Johnson said, battling some watery eyes. "I need a fresh start, a breath of fresh air. I need it. I need it. Regardless of what people think, I'm tired of hearing what people think about me, I'm tired of making everybody try to like Chad. I've got to do what's right for Chad now."

Now, he didn't say that change couldn't happen in Cincinnati. But he did say the problem is not his contract (though he did mention that pro football is "all about the money), while also professing his love for his Bengal teammates.

So it really was hard to get a complete read on what he was trying to say, other than he doesn't want the situation he faced in Cincy last year to repeat itself.

He also said that there aren't hard feelings there.

"If you don't like me, then something's wrong with you," Johnson emphasized. "I'm gonna speak my mind, especially now. Because I'm at a point where I can't be worried about what other people say. I gotta be worried about Chad, period."

Anytime Johnson's on one of these sets there's laughter, sometimes over-laughter, and this time wasn't any exception. But at one point, he asked for it to stop.

"Y'all don't hear me," he said, frantically looking for a camera. "I'm so serious. If I don't stand up for Chad right now, I'm through. I'm done. Where's the camera? What camera we on? Man, look at my eyes. I'm not playing."

Then, he offered this: "Sometimes they say the grass ain't greener on the other side. I'll tell you what, if I leave, I got my water."

Hmmm ... If Jerry wants his 'Wow' factor, there's absolutely, positively no question that Ocho Cinco could be his man. Plus, Johnson and T.O. are good friends, though there's no telling whether that relationship would be maintained if they were fighting for numbers in the same offense, or if one had to take a backseat to the other.

Stay tuned. If Johnson becomes available via trade, the owner could get the 'Wow'-boys offense he's been thirsting for.

I'de give them #28 and a 3rd rounder for Ocho Cinco. If Chad keeps talking like this with the media, the Bengals will have no choice but to explore trade options.

JAMES HARDY AND CHAD AND T.O. would be better than Antonio Bryant Joey Galloway and Terry Glenn.

I heard the interview and I got the distinct impression that Chad wanted out of Cincy. He said it before and he didn't deny it again.

A change of scenery. What are they going to do, repaint the town of Cincinnati?

HE wants out and he will get out this off season. No way can they have 85 there with that attitude. Plus, they are getting ready to redo Houshmanzada's contract and he willg et big dollars and Chad will want bigger dollars then because he is the #1 WR on that team.

This is going to be nothing short of a colossal mess in Tiger Town.

Ok it's a possibility though.

#1 Chad wants to go to a contender to get a ring
#2 The Bengals will want to trade him to an NFC team
#3 Ocho Cinco would be the "WOW" player
#4 We could still grab the best available CB at #22 and still grab a backup RB in the 2nd or 4th round

Guess something's wrong with me, then.

Stay far away from this freakshow.

I felt the same way about TO. HE was the same kind of deal as Chad is.

I was wrong about TO.

I'm actually warming to the idea a bit.

To and Chad on the same team would make for some interesting TD celebrations but also would be a nightmare for every team we play.

He cracks me up, but he's not the vet WR we need or that I want. He'd fill the bill, but he's past the age where I'd roll the dice.

Amen

I watched that on TA tonight. He is a lunatic. He is not worth the trouble either. He was asking the camera to zoom in on him and said he was going to cry.

He said he loved his teammates but he had to go.

We already have a guy with this attitude, I hope we never have another.

He made an arse of himself on TA.
I'm liking that guy less and less every time I see him.
No thanks.

Oh give me a break. You know Chad T.O. and Witten is a ring right there. Add McFadden and Pacman and look out 72 Dolphins.

Some people are saying no because they know if we pick up chad we won't pick up an eventual bust in James Hardy, DeSean Jackson or any of those other half arsed WR's in this years draft. Sam goes for Pacman. I mean I never hear anyone complain about Irvin they sure as heck weren't complaining when we were winning super bowls.
Pacman, Chad and McFadden and I am happy.

where ya at 85?
