I don't think he will have as great of a statistical year, but I do think he will play better this year. He will not be asked to pass as much, and when he does pass, hopefully the whole world will not know that it will be a pass before the ball is snapped.

I think attention to the running game may be the best thing for Romo.

Yeah I dont care about his stats really.

Never did.

He will not be asked to pass as much and that can be a good thing except that our sluggo o-line hasnt really proven that it lead a running game. So what happens when Felix cant get through a small hole or can evade or go around a defender? Barber too.. even moreso.

No running game. The defense pins their ears back and shuts down the running game. Unless Roy can do his part and then some... its gonna be tough.

I am not counting on Crayton. I have hope for Austin.. but its still SHOW ME.. dont tell me.

OK lets just stick with facts:

The D came up small at critical times. So did Tony and the O.

So any shots taken at both are valid untill shown otherwise by performance in december and beyond.

Criticise Canty all you want but fact is that we have stank it up late in the season when it counted. Tony turned the ball over and did not make plays when it mattered as did the whole Offense.
And what was Canty doing while everyone around him was coming up small at critical times?

I think the same as you, but if the offensive line doesn't improve, it will not matter.

Couldn't agree more with both of you.`

that could very well be true and we all know that.

I cant speak for everyone, but I am upset canty is saying this stuff because he knows exactly what happens everytime someone opens their mouth about romo, he has been one of the guys in the locker room here who has complained about this type of thing and has also had comments on the giants being trash talkers. When I have the time I will find some of that stuff, I have it on an external somewhere.

SO again my problem is why is he saying these types of things in the manner he said it when He knows what kind of firestorm it starts for romo, now romo has to answer all these foolish questions about himself because a guy like canty wants to be mr mouth in ny.

He is doing the julius jones your gonna miss me thing like jj did last year.

Chris canty could have handled it much better. Akin ayodele and anthony fasano were shown the door by the organization because they didnt believe in them and they didnt talk about anyone.

I am disapointed in him because he has never been like that here and he has talked negatively of people who do that stuff.

He was asked direct questions...and he answered them the best he could. You cant go giving your arch rival tons of love and gushing about how good they are. He's a Giant now, he's going to be talking smack.

Akin and Fasano weren't given 40+ million dollar contracts to our most current hated rival that we play twice per year. Dallas to Miami is a bit different than Dallas to New York

I have no problem with anything that Canty said. I think he handled himself very well

Just posing a question here, but consider this.

What if the problem is Romo? What if this is as good as he gets?

That is a tough thing to contemplate for some.

But regardless of his beginning, the end of Romo's career could be more of the same we have seen the last two years. December fades and missing the play-offs.

Homer goggles are one thing. To rail against Canty is the business as usual response.

But there could be truth here that some don't wish to acknowledge.

Just tossing it out.

That kind of thinking gets you labeled a 'troll' or Bills fan on Cowboyszone....

Ok, I've kept quiet on the TO subject for long enough but some of you really need to wake up. If the players directly involved in the locker room are 90% saying TO wasn't the problem, HELLO!, what is that telling you? The first thing you guys want to say about Canty is, "He's a bum, glad we got rid of him" well if that's your line of thinking, then theres a lot more players that need to be shown the door. That "bum" was with these players day in and day and out and I trust his opinion over anybody working across the country writing blogs on the internet and telling the rest of the world that TO was the problem. If baffles me that the mediots continuously say TO was the locker room cancer, yet the actual locker room say that isn't the case and most seem to have an issue with Romo.

One thing that does jump out is the "No comment" about Romo. it seems like the majority believe that Romo is not the player the rest of the world think he is, and like I said, these guys should know as they were with him nearly every day and played with him on Sunday.

Im happy to have Igor and Tony , over Canty and Eli ...And yes Romo was forcing the ball to TO just to appease ...Bye

How come people DID NOT hear that he said, "Tremendous player in Tony Romo" at 2:27 in the video????
exactly. those answers were all during the joke/trash talk session.

first question about TO
2nd question about romo
3rd question who's better ware or tuck.
4th question throw philips, romo, or TO under the bus
5th question throw philips under the bus.

canty handled it well.

now having said that if a cowboys had answered those, the giants/patriots teams would've turned it into motivation, said nothing until they won both games of the season. then stomped on the star like TO

He also tried to claim Tuck was better than Ware(not so convincingly). He's the over-rated one, glad he's gone.

You know, during his Dallas days, Canty was never heard from much. He didn't say much to the media, and he was pretty quiet on the field with a lack of production if you ask me. He was solid, but nothing to write home about.

And now since Chris signed a very lucrative deal with the Giants, he keeps popping up in the media about his former team and teammates. It seems to be a prerequisite when becoming a NY Giant; make sure you say something about the Dallas Cowboys. And if it happens to be a negative comment, then so be it.

The Giants overpayed for an underachieving DE.

Sounds like a little payback for Ware saying the Boys would be fine with Igor.

I listened to Mac Engel on one of the recent KTBB podcasts, and he said Canty was bitter all year last season about not getting a long-term deal. I guess it was that obvious to everyone around.

And how did this get to be a thread on Romo? The issue isn't about how good Romo is. It's about a former teammate and now rival taking a shot at him. Plus this being another sign of a divided locker room with much of the defense seemingly on TO's "side" -- but I don't think there's anything new about that.

To those who think he wasn't taking a shot, come on. He clearly was. All he had to do was give some Bull Durham-ish cliche like no, Romo's not overrated and we have our work cut out to stop him. But instead, he had to take a jab and show some real arrogance instead.

Which is fine as far as giving us a little extra motivation, but not very classy on his part.

Sheeesshhh....

Ok this is not dorected at you personally, but just using your post as an example....

We, as fans on this forum, really need to check ourselves and this "need" (for lack of a better word) to trash, question the loyalty of, and openly call for the banning of fellow Cowboys fans just because they have a strong opinion, and especially if you disagree with it.

This is getting way out of hand on this forum. I've had my arguments with guys like 5, and with guys on the other side of the road, but I don't want them banned no matter how much I disagree with them. Banning is for other team's trolls, or ad spammers, not Cowboys fans you happen to disagree with regarding the cutting of Owens, level of homerism, etc.

I would think we can all give each other enough room to make the occasional kneejerk reaction that we may feel differently about after time to ponder it, but apparantly that is too much to ask in this new age of forum e-tough guys.

I would certainly hope the moderators are not being swayed by open calls for banning people like 5 who may be disagreeable, but the guy is a Cowboys fan. I don't question anybody's team loyalty unless they come right out and say they are done. You start banning Cowboys fans for having different opinions and you flush all good standing of this board right down the toilet. You might as well put in the TOS that a certain level of newspeak is expected, and differing opinions won't be tolerated.

In short, stop searching for reasons to question the loyalty of other fans and sissy boy calls for banning because you don't agree with them so you want them out of your sight.

While I agree with his sentiments on Owens and I can sort of see him trashing Romo on some level, Canty was horrendous the first half of the season. He stepped it up in the second half, but he was hardly a terror.

If there's a reason why I think 2009 is going to be rough, it's because of how players like Canty feel about Owens and Romo. I don't blame Romo for Owens being released, but I can't help but think the *majority* of players on the team didn't like that Owens was released and see him as a scapegoat, regardless of what the fans think. And if the offense struggles this season, particularly early on in the year, I think Romo will lose a lot of respect with the rest of the locker room. Again, I don't think it's Romo's fault that Owens is gone, but there's bound to be players that will think that and if Romo's performance is below expectations, they'll turn on him.

Then, those are the kind of teammates that make a GREAT team!

So, I guess it's Romo vs. the rest of the team?

See, this is the same crap that has been going on every since TO came into the league...he divides.

So, the team "will turn on Romo" if he does not get it done? Yet, when the other members of the "team" don't get it done, should Romo "turn on them"?

Pathetic....

So glad he's gone...freez it up, freez it good.

It won't be long until the fans of his new team take shots at him and how he's overpaid. This team has all the possible extra motivation that one could have this early in the season, it's time for them to step up and shut everyone up.
