The thing is Romo is not overrated.

If anything he is underrated.

After Brady and Manning, Romo should be right there in the discussion with anyone.

The difference is Romo doesn't have a defense where he can go win games 13 to 10 like Big Ben has.

Romo has to make plays all game long. He's forced to because our defense always finds ways to give up points.

Romo is as big of a playmaker as they come at the QB position.

If the defense ever learns how to get off the field on 3rd downs and not give up back breaking plays late in games than we will be in the playoffs, Superbowls, and Romos already franchise record breaking numbers will no longer be deniable.

He is overrated.
He is not underrated.

After Manning and Brady you could talk Carson Palmer, Drew Brees, Matt Hasselbeck before Romo.

Romo doesnt have big defense? Ok thats cool. But when you go 3 and out and keep asking your defense to save it.

Come on.

We had a stretch of 3 or 4 TD's given up four or five games or whatever it was.

Exactly. He was unhappy last year when Tuck got big money. Now Tuck and Canty, a guy whose never been on the team and never put up any of the numbers Osi' has, are getting big money. They're about to have to give Osi a nice chunk of change raise as well.

The three of them are going to making more than Ware when you talk abou their combined deals and I'd much rather give up one, or two, of them for Ware and put Ware and Osi together and pay them what you'd have to pay them.
Tuck makes less money than Osi does. Besides, Osi isn't in much of a position to negotiate a bigger contract after missing an entire season due to injury. His contract is a non-issue at this point. It might be at some point in the future, but it isn't now.

Well Romo and company could actually help the defense out by not going 3 and out so much and forcing the defense back on the field too soon. The defense played great for the first 3 1/2 quarters against the Ravens, but because the offense failed to convert third downs, the defense got tired and couldn't stop the Ravens.
Mike Tyson had one of the strongest chins in the world but the more he gets tired, the more he gets hit, until he gets knocked out. His only hope was to knock the other guy out first, and when that didn't happen, you knew it was just a matter of time before he went to sleep.
The same applies to the Cowboys; if the team doesn't deliver the knockout blow, eventually the defense will get tired and collapse. This team is not built for endurance and that needs to change, starting with Romo. He needs to become more consistant and be more careful with the football.

I can relate to this post more than any, I think, I've read on this board in a while.

It's silly that you can't be critical of some of Romo's flaws without be called out for thinking he's "trash"and told to go root for another team (ridiculousness at it's finest). Or God forbid you don't post positively in a thread that boasts Romo's statistical similarity to Jesus, himself.

On the other side of the coin, if you aren't 100% on board with the release of Owens, then all of a sudden you hate the Dallas Cowboys and should suddenly align yourself with the Buffalo Bills. Utter absurdity.

The above post is about as level-headed as I've seen on these subjects in a while. Thanks, I appreciated it.
I agree 100%. Great post.

Exactly.

And why is anyone defending Canty anyway. He's now a NY Giant.

Who cares if he says anything that sounds legit. You should still be bashing the crap out of him because it's the right thing to do as a Cowboys Fan!

With that said...

Ummmm, No. That is homerism at it's finest. You can continue living in Neverland if you want. I choose reality. Tell Michael Jackson I said hello.

Amen to that. Basically trashing the QB of the team you just left and propping the troublemaker who's gone? That's out of bounds.

I wonder if that's one reason we let him go. I always thought he had a great attitude, but after reading this and the story about his free agency, maybe he doesn't.

Where do I buy my Igor jersey...

after watching dont you think the video was taken out of context. you can tell that he doesnt think tuck is better but he rolled with his teammate, and you can tell he thinks romo is good but still overhyped...

If there is any canty hate it should be b/c he switched sides like to a rilvary.

Only person I have yet to hear from has been Romo. Maybe he has more important things on his plate than a bunch of he said/she said.

Ya like helping Jess with her wardrobe. Or practicing more on throwing to the other teams players.

Romo will always be overrated to me until he proves otherwise.

And Im glad TO is gone, now Romo doesnt have to please him, and can spread the ball around more.

Ole "one eye" is in the perfect place to run his mouth.

Tuck better than Ware?.........ROTFLMAO

When do you think we will all this "stuff" about Owens in the locker room? You seemed real sure it was happening and that the team held their tongue because it was the "classy" thing to not diss a teammate.

When is the bomb gonna drop about how bad he was?

Yeah, it was all TO.

Romo will never force another ball, never make another bad decision, each receiver will get equal catches and the star on the helmet will be replaced with rainbows and butterflies.

Or until you learn what the definition of 'overrated' is, whichever comes first. I'm putting my money on 'neither.'

Just posing a question here, but consider this.

What if the problem is Romo? What if this is as good as he gets?

That is a tough thing to contemplate for some.

But regardless of his beginning, the end of Romo's career could be more of the same we have seen the last two years. December fades and missing the play-offs.

Homer goggles are one thing. To rail against Canty is the business as usual response.

But there could be truth here that some don't wish to acknowledge.

Just tossing it out.

Anything could happen...your are right. But, Romo has put up great numbers for only starting in the NFL for the short time that he has.

Like others have said, the defense did not exactely help out that much last year.

Let the guy grow up a little more, learn his role and how important the Cowboys are and maybe he can get the prize...

But, nothing is guaranteed...

It will be hard for him to go up much higher.

The only thing lacking on his resume is post season success.

He's already had one of the better regular seasons in NFL history but it got overlooked because Brady went bonkers.

I think Romo doesn't have enough faith in this defense to not try and go win games by himself sometimes.
