The Cowboys have wasted little time in finding a replacement for defensive line coach Todd Grantham.

Fired Monday as Miami’s defensive coordinator, Paul Pasqualoni will take over the Cowboys defensive line next season but he is on hand at Valley Ranch already.

It will be the third position group Pasqualoni has coached for the Cowboys. He was the tight ends coach in 2005 and the linebackers coach in 2006-07. When Tony Sparano left the Cowboys following the 2007 season, Pasqualoni departed to be the Dolphins defensive coordinator.

Miami’s defense fell to No. 22 in 2009 after finishing 15th in 2008 when it won the AFC East title. The Dolphins allowed 24.4 points per game in ’09 after allowing 19.8 the previous year.

Known as an incredibly detailed coach, Pasqualoni inherits a good group, led by All-Pro nose tackle Jay Ratliff. Marcus Spears, Stephen Bowen and Jason Hatcher have also become big contributors the last few seasons and the Cowboys hit on free-agent pickup Igor Olshansky. Spears, Bowen and Hatcher are scheduled to be restricted free agents after the season with the unresolved collective bargaining agreement.

sounds like Jerry has already decided what he's doing at HC.

Yeah Jerry made that clear a few weeks ago. All Wade had to do was have some post season success and he'd be staying.

Good hire, good timing. Though I'm sorry to see Grantham go. But losing coach(es) is inevitable once a team has some success.

Yeah, I'd say you keep the whole package together for next year, even with a loss on Sunday. The only problem I could see is if Garrett gets another offer and decides to take it this time. That might make Jerry flinch and do something.

This is a good move. The guys know Paul and he should fit right in.

This is actually an upgrade. I didn't realize Paul was even available.

Paul just won the lottery. Better franchise. Better coaching staff. Better facilities. Better ownership. Better team.

And he's back in time to get a Super Bowl ring.

it actually feels good that on the most important week so far this season, wade is shown some job security. now if we go all the way and win the sb, he can retire on top and we have a replacement at dc on the staff already.

Yeah Welcome home Paul. You were never going to flourish with the mullets anyway. The shine is quickly coming off of the holy trinity down here.

The Wade PC about 30 minutes ago is already up, and it was almost entirely about hiring Paul back. Pretty cool, I must say. Wade seems very happy to have him back... I know Ware spoke highly of him, too.

You have to like how we handle these things with total class, just like when all the guys went to Miami. No hard feelings whatsoever when people want to leave.

First class all the way. It is the Cowboy's way. ;)

I prefer Todd. :( I like Paul, but I think Todd is far better option. Which is probably why Georgia (worst state on the planet) hired him rather than Paul.

Paul P has been a college head coach. I doubt he wanted to go back to being a DC in college. I am pretty shocked Grantham left for that gig.
