That's the opinion of SI.com's Ross Tucker, a former NFL offensive lineman.
Suffice to say, Romo is on the hot seat. Big-time. As in, if the Cowboys don't win a playoff game next season, Romo should get the ax. He's already failed in three seasons as a starter to lead his team to one measly playoff victory, a team with a roster so stacked that it's perennially one of the two or three best in football. How many chances does one guy get? With T.O. gone, there should be no more excuses for Romo. None. No more team chemistry dissertations or distraction discussions. Romo got what he wanted, and now he better make the most of it.

T.O. fell on the proverbial sword this year. Romo should take the fall right around this time next year if the Cowboys don't win a playoff game yet again.
Romo deserves his fair share of criticism, but I can't say I'm on board with Tucker's plan.

How long did the Cowboys search for a franchise quarterback after Troy Aikman's career was over? Do you really want to start that process over again? Who would start in 2010? Jon Kitna? A second-year QB drafted with a mid- to late-round pick? A rookie?

Romo's reputation will be on the line next season. His job shouldn't be.

I'd love to see him get at least one this year, and he does shoulder his fair share of the blame for them not having one in the last 3 years, for sure, but getting rid of him and starting all over at QB because of that?

Thanks, but no thanks.

If Tony becomes a disprutive force then sure. If Tony play slides then I would expect that Dallas would hold on to him until a replacement could be found. Unlike WR there is only 1 QB and finding quality QB's is not that easy. In the words of BP there is no 1-800-QB

Ross Tucker is an idiot.

What an moronic opinion.

Sure, the Giants loss was all Romo's fault.

Romo is a young QB in terms of game experience. How about exhibiting patience?

How many years was it til Peyton Manning got a super bowl ring? How many years did he start before he won a playoff game?

'Next year or nuttin!' is too much like L'il Danny Snyder thinking for me.....

Funny, I thought there were another 52 players on the team.

If Indy had followed this advice for Manning he/they would have never have won a SB.

I guess that Aikman was lucky they won in his 4th year with the team otherwise by this opinion he should have been gone.

Same thing for Peyton Manning. Lord knows that guy should have been belted from the Colts long before he ever won anything.

Perennially? That means year in and year out, right? we've only had about 3-5 good years (2.5 w/ Romo starting) following at least 4 dismal years. Give the kid some time.

Yeah I'll bet the Colts are glad they cut Peyton after his failures.[/sarcasm off]

This is the dumbest article I've ever read. Romo is our guy - for the LONG haul like it or not.

Personally, I love it

Who has? I agree Romo should not be off limits but really who has looked good in any of our post season games? Somehow this team needs to come together when it counts if they do that there will be enough credit to go around for everyone

I don't remember Romo's words being all that horrible.

I'm sure someone has then bookmarked. I'd like to see them.

I also don't remember them being a weekly gripe. Pretty sure Romo let it out after the season was over. Still not the way to go but its not nearly as bad as harping on the same crap week in and week out.

I find myself saying this on this board every so often now...

We are so freakin' lucky to have a QB like Tony Romo. This opinion of Tucker's made me laugh out loud.

Romo is the Cowboy I'm least worried about.

And for the record, I was completely in the pro-T.O. camp. But if Romo wanted T.O. gone, he had to go. No-brainer.
