DMN Blog: Cowboys should get rid of Tony Romo if they don't win a playoff game in '09

People just want to say cut this cut that and not propose a secondary option.:bang2:

Trade for Cutler or Quinn.... One with a pair and knows how to be a leader, not the class clown

We're going to go with Tony Romo until something better comes along. Its beyond stupid to do otherwise.

This guy is a goon! Because of Romo we've won a ton of games we shouldn't have. I love this kid, because I always have faith he's going to give us a shot to win. That's all you can ask of your QB.

As far as Tucker's opinion, its absolutely ridiculous.

No can take this man serious. How he gets paid for that is beyond me.

By the same logic Jay Cutler should be cut.

Started an equal amount of games "failed in three seasons as a starter to lead his team to one measly playoff victory", despite being in one of most QB friendly systems and in one of the worst divisions in football. In the two years that cutler has been the season-long starter, KC and Oakland have COMBINED for a total of 15 Wins and have been outscored by almost 500 points.

Shanahan fell on the proverbial sword this year. Cutler should take the fall right around this time next year if the Broncos don't win a playoff game yet again.

See how easy it is to just throw a pile of dog crap on the wall?

And by the same logic, many a QB should be cut.

And what the hell does he mean by "chances"? He says it like Tony's playing the ring toss game at the carnival. Almost like in his mind Tony wasn't even the QB for the team during the regular season. Like Tony had nothing to do with how the team had gotten where it was at.

And to answer his question. Tony will get as many as he makes. If Tony has 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. more seasons where he plays well enough to lead the team to the playoffs and chokes, that's how many chances he will get. 12 QBs play in the playoffs, 20 don't. If Tony can get the team there, he will always "get another chance" because finding QBs who give you the shot to "get a chance" isn't a cakewalk.

I've been very critical of Tony but I don't think I have been down right stupid. At least not this stupid.

:signmast:

If you support the idea that Tony should be dished then I counter you with an equally dumb assessment of Cutler just 1 post up. For all intents and purposes, Cutler is Romo.

And Quinn is as unproven as there is at the pro level.

I hear Quincy and Hutch are available.

hey quincy did as much as romo has with less talent. The only difference is Quincy loves drugs, and Romo loves Blondes.

Ill take the younger guy, with the bigger arm, who wont leave to Mexico during playoff runs, gets his PTP'er the rock, and wont act in post game news conferences that its okay to get blown out.

Cutler has more leadership skills in his left gonad than Tony.

He is more 'laisse fare' than Chris Simms.

Blondes are not a banned substance. :laugh2:

You lost all your credibility when you mentioned Quincy. That guy was a bag of #%@#! He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a beach ball!

2nd round draft pick used on a guy that can't throw a freaking spiral???

Quincy rode the back of an over achieving defense and a weak schedule.

Who has? I agree Romo should not be off limits but really who has looked good in any of our post season games? Somehow this team needs to come together when it counts if they do that there will be enough credit to go around for everyone

ur right they all play like crap in PO's. but Romo to me doesnt transmit that SECURITY, theres no I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU PAY attitude. that other QB's do have. hes just like oh shuckz i missed the oportunity..maybe we'll get it next time....

Its called being accountable. After he messes up, he is seen snuggling with JG on the sidelines. After he makes that 'oh shuckz' goofy face. Very similar to Eli's hand flaring.

You and every other person who is enamored by "the things you can't teach".

who wont leave to Mexico during playoff runs,
This I agree with. I wasn't a big fan of that move.

gets his PTP'er the rock
Incapable despite having more TDs, more 40+ yard completions, and a higher QB rating year-in and year-out?

and wont act in post game news conferences that its okay to get blown out.
No but a guy who asks his team to let him try and work his own trade deal out with other teams instead of trying remain in the place he admittedly loves.

Cutler has more leadership skills in his left gonad than Tony.
And it has gotten him where? Not an ounce further than Tony. Has Cutler even gone to the playoffs? Played on a college team that routinely lost and hasn't even gone to the playoffs.

How is it possible that the 'Great Leader Of Men' Jay Cutler hasn't ever won at any level?

That's the opinion of SI.com's Ross Tucker, a former NFL offensive lineman.
Suffice to say, Romo is on the hot seat. Big-time. As in, if the Cowboys don't win a playoff game next season, Romo should get the ax. He's already failed in three seasons as a starter to lead his team to one measly playoff victory, a team with a roster so stacked that it's perennially one of the two or three best in football. How many chances does one guy get? With T.O. gone, there should be no more excuses for Romo. None. No more team chemistry dissertations or distraction discussions. Romo got what he wanted, and now he better make the most of it.
T.O. fell on the proverbial sword this year. Romo should take the fall right around this time next year if the Cowboys don't win a playoff game yet again.
Romo deserves his fair share of criticism, but I can't say I'm on board with Tucker's plan.

How long did the Cowboys search for a franchise quarterback after Troy Aikman's career was over? Do you really want to start that process over again? Who would start in 2010? Jon Kitna? A second-year QB drafted with a mid- to late-round pick? A rookie?

Romo's reputation will be on the line next season. His job shouldn't be.

If Romo fails again next season then we have not found a replacement franchise QB to Aikman, and the search will go on.

That is exactly what just happened with TO.

Romo has already proved his worth by over-coming the limitations of the Red-Headed idiot. Actually, if the offense suffers then Jason Garrett needs to be canned the day the season is over. In fact, if the offense is struggling during mid-season, his sorry self should be fired on the spot and Dallas should promote the janitor as the OC, because he sure as hell would be able to get more out of them then Garrett.

Romo got hurt. And he has been a great cowboy!!! Romo will get it done. This poor guy has one thing going against him........he's a cowboy!(ala media) He is a damn stud!!!! Im wit cha Tony.!!!!

Ross Tucker is an idiot.

What an moronic opinion.

Sure, the Giants loss was all Romo's fault.

Romo is a young QB in terms of game experience. How about exhibiting patience?

Don't expect grownup behavior from kids.

:)

It took Peyton and other great QBs to win a playoff game he is not in the hot seat It takes a while to develop he been starting for what 2 years and 1/2 give him some time
