I think Jerry actually does a decent job on draft day when he does his inevitable jockeying up and down the boards.

But other then Terry Glenn for a 6th, or the push that was the Galloway/Keyshawn trade, I can't think of many non-draft day trades Jerry has made that have "favored us," much less evened out the truly dreadful ones.

Guess you missed that Herschel Walker deal. It was in all the papers.:D

I highly doubt anyone would trade much for Roy Williams right about now.

Well, no one with brains. The fans who took a lot of flack for dissing this trade from day one are owed an apology. In all likelihood, they will not get one.

Ware is pretty established and I don't believe anyone would be brazen enough to bother asking to trade for him as it is certain we wouldn't give him up no matter what.

Given the fact that teams like the Ravens need CBs and WRs, I would assume someone like Austin or Scandrick. Most of the trade rumor buzz that didn't happen circled around the WR position from what I read.

I would certainly hope we didn't turn down anything significant for any other "young talent".

Scandrick sounds plausible, but the "major" trade throws me off. Would Scandrick be involved in a "major" trade? By "major" I'm thinking a first round pick and maybe a player. A first round pick alone is not a "major" trade, IMO.

But I can't see a team offering a first round pick for Scandrick.

I was thinking more in the Jerry Jones Makes All Of The Decisions Era, but ok I'll give you that one deal 20 years ago.

Josh Cribbs for Cowboys' 2010 first-round pick, a third-round pick and sixth-round pick. The Cowboys get Cleveland's 2010 seventh-round pick in the Cribbs trade

I stand corrected. From another blog entry about the jerry press conference:

I'm betting it was Austin or Bennett.
i agree with that, but also could have been scandrick or john philips 3rd string TE, or victor butler

I think you mean the Jerry makes only the bad decisions Era. That started in 1989.

It's easier to work with and better fits anyone's Jerry hating agenda.

Jerry Jones' ability to estimate the magnitude of draft choices should be what throws you off. He gave up two premium choices for Roy Williams and rationalizes it. For all we know, he could take another choice and talk it up, especially if he can grin and think he's holding onto a young player that someone else might want.

Honestly, if "major" means a player who could instantly start for us at a position of need in exchange for any of our "young talent", then we were foolish for turning it down. There are few untouchables on this roster and I can count them on one hand.

Wrestling with the semantics of this is aggravating, particularly because of who it was that uttered the words to begin with.

This is going to absolutely kill me until Jerry just comes out and says what the trade was. I HATE not knowing stuff like this.

He hooked you then. Say what you want about him, but he's a marketing genius.

If it was Bennett, they should've traded him.

Not so according to what thefan said today that something jason garrett said
garrett, we plan on getting Bennett involved more in december

why cant they do it now, instead of waiting for december when it might be to late to get bennett involved more

Yeah, I'm putting my money on MartyB. We've been using John Phillips a lot, so teams probably figured we could live with him as our back up.

You realize there are probably people reading this board who weren't even alive when that trade was made, right? And that it is offset by Jerry giving away 3 1st rounders, a 3rd and 6th for 2 mediocre WRs right?

Look, I gave him credit for the trade. Since then what player trades have worked seriously in our favor the last two decades?
