Marcus Spears is vastly underrated on this board. He is way better than Canty, way better.
He was second on the team in TFL the last 2 years and third this year on QB PRESSURES.

I'm not going to write off Spears just yet. I saw some good things from him last year and I suspect in his contract year that he will have his best season yet.

I think the Cowboys will end up resigning him after this season.

At the Pro level? About as much as you I expect.

Funny that someone who makes these claims would suggest a wholesale reordering of our D-line and can't even ID what side Igor played in SD.

Wholesale...what part have you not heard or get. Spears has shuffled at NT already and Rat is a playmaker at DE...simple as that.

As for Igor...yes I was thinking he was on the left side. My mistake.

I wouldn't mind seeing this deal get done, as long as the numbers are right.

I like Bowen and Hatcher and think they can do the job. I think Spears is the most underrated player on this whole team, by the way. That guy just isn't appreciated enough.

But getting a guy like Igor really protects you. You get a useful player who gives you more options on the field. But he also protects you against possible problems in Spears' negotations.

That would be an upgrade for sure.

For sure?

Lets not act like Canty was garbage, and Olshansky was all pro.

Remember, Canty got a job before Olshansky did. He is good to fill in, but he is nothing special.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Igor Olshansky joining the cowboys this season?

12:24 Todd Archer: He's here visiting, as we wrote on the blog. I think it can happen, but I'm not sure. His agents,. Bruce and Rayn Tollner, also represent Leonard Davis and they came together pretty easily on a deal there. The Cowboys have room for the right deal but nothing too big. He'd be a good fit.

Around $5 - 5.5mm per year sounds about right.

5 year 25 mill or something like that maybe a little less IDK. maybe 5 year 20 mill I wouldn't mind that contract.

I wouldn't sign him. He's not worth what he will ask for. Why over pay for a guy who was similar to Canty? He's gong to want similar money to Canty. He's nothing special.

I'd play Jason Hatcher, Bowen, and two draft picks on the dline.

I doubt he will be asking for as much as Canty.

Rat is a playmaker at NT - so much so that he made it to the probowl. Spears played very little at NT, we experimented with it in preseason but he didn't play there much during the regular season at all. Wonder why that was? It certainly wasn't Tank's play.

Igor would be a great move. You can take DE off your draft board and depth is always a positive in 3-4 DE's

Igor,Rat,Spears

Hatcher,Bowen,Dixon,drafted NT.

I predict it'll happen soon to chase away today's 'stink'.

That stink was febreezed when T.O. left Valley Ranch:star:

Oh please let this happen.

You and me both.

One more position we can check off before the Draft.

If we can get Igor and one Secondary player and one reasonably priced number 3/4 WR I'd be happy going into the Draft.

I wanted us to draft him too. I would like this signing.

I actually wanted us to take Sopoanga, whom the 49ers locked up last year. He and Igor went head to head in the bench press at the combine that year and both were in the mid 40's. I'd be ok wiht Igor, any good news would be welcome at this point. Don't break the bank.

It was because Spears was busy starting at DE.
