Patrick Crayton has become what Bradie James was last year ... the nominal, solid player who becomes the dog that everyone kicks all offseason because they're upset the entire team failed to meet expectations in the playoffs.

In the meantime, everyone was jumping up and down with joy that we resigned Flozell even though he was completely manhandled by Osi the entire second half.

Everyone on that Oline got manhandled in the second half, and I don't think Flo's signing was univerally lauded. But for most of last season, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better LT in the NFL. He was dominant. It's tough to let that walk away. Crayton's faults were a little more out in the open. But he doesn't deserve what he's getting from the fans and pundits, public enemy #1.

I hope for the best, but a guy with a big mouth makes it hard to root for him.

Couple that with his essentially costing the team a playoff game and that makes it twice as difficult to pull for him.

I'm always hopeful for anything that makes the team better but it will take some proof to make me root for Crayton personally again.

The guys you compare him to weren't the big-mouthed players Crayton was. He needs to talk less and play more (as in better).

Agreed with everything you mentioned.

Good points.

And I agree with what you said about the flapping jaws.

I also felt the same way when Bradie James and TNew went after Kitna verbally before the Detroit game this past year with their jaws.

Again, writing a check with those months that the body can't cash is definitely a no-no.

This year, we need to just shutup and play 60 minutes for 16 weeks and let it all be said there.

What, does he live under a rock?

people only hear what they wanna hear. he had to have heard all the talk about how much he sucked in the playoffs, all the talk about getting another good wr opposite TO and all the talk about all the fans wanting a WR early.

Crayton is a VERY good #3 who makes a GOOD #2. And that is all. And untill he makes big catches in playoff games that is all he will ever be.
He talked the talk but did NOT walk the walk. Right after the game he should have manned up and admitted he was a big reason we lost. And should have publicly dedicated himself to never doing it again and making up for it. HE DID NOT DO THAT.
So frankly untill he does for me he is on probation. Untill he makes some big catches in the playoffs he is just a guy.

I hate to admit it, but with Roy and Reeves in our secondary unless Ellis and Ware had fantastic games we probably would have been toasted. Newman, Hamlin and Henry would not have been enough to get the job done with Toast and Thong playing as well.

I used to think Crayton was going to become something special...I'm still waiting. After all that trash talking and then falling flat on his face against the Giants, I'm no longer as optimistic as I was about him.

It's more like:
When the going gets tough, the tough get going and Crayton starts trash talking hoping nobody will notice he's wetting his pants.

I hope he proves me wrong.

I'm waiting, each year, for him to get better. Oh..wait...he's done EXACTLY that every offseason.

I expect nothing less than him improving that much more this year. While he'll never be the replacement for TO, but realistically speaking that will be just as hard as replacing Irvin was, he's gotten better every single season he's played. I have no reason to believe he can't do that again this year.

I disagree. Crayton hit a serious plateau last year. In fact, in some cases, he's regressed because of his attitude. Instead of a hard working, angry, young player looking to prove himself, he's turned into a self effacing, clown.

I don't expect too much improvement from him this year. He is what he is. He's made tremendous strides for a former 7th rounder, and he's come a long way. But after 4 years in the league, the improvement tails off and he is what he is ... a #3 WR.

I'd love to see Terry Glenn back and healthy, but if not I think we'll be alright. We weren't the 4th best offense last year for no reason. Would I like to trade to for a Vet WR? Yes, but if it doesn't happen, we've got the tools to be very productive once again.

Please Crayton, JUST SHUT THE *** UP.

You single handly cost the team a playoff game with your piss poor play. Not only did you drop a TD pass, you gave up on what would have been a game-winning catch. I dont care what type of spin people try to come up with, I watched the play and you quit on the route, end of discussion.

We would have beat the Packers the following week, so you cost the team a trip to the SB:mad:

So I dont want to hear a dam word from you this entire season, not one dam word.

Let's spread the blame around. Crayton may have taken points off the board, but there are others who put them on the scoreboard for the Giants as well:

I just hope we are not forced to rely on Crayton. Forget Glen, he is done. We need to trade for a serviceable #2 or someone needs to step up. Crayton does not have the speed or hands to be a #2 WR...drops clutch passes and has average speed.

Guys who seem to be what they are...not any better -- Crayton, Austin, and Hurd.

We need one of these guys to surprise us and really be better than people think -- Jefferson, Polk, West, Stanback, and Amendola. Just one out of this group would be great...
