Hos, I thought that a Pittsburgh voter basically said the same thing. Do you recall that, or am I thinking of that Niners voter?
Ira Miller is the only one I know of, but I wouldn't be shocked at others.

Who do you like better, Eddie George or Drew Bledsoe?

Oh there are plenty of others.

I'm as certain of that as I am the sun will rise in the east tomorrow morning.

Well, he was. Obviously, Tennessee fans will be more excited if he gets in, but he is forever associated with the Cowboys, diminished skills and all.

It will be very interesting to see if Woodson makes the final 15. (He should, of course).

The other thing is, Too Tall keeps making this preliminary list, and Harvey Martin doesn't.

Danny White would be in the Hall of Fame by now had he run for a touchdown instead of passing an incomplete third and goal pass against San Fran on Dallas' final drive in the 1981 NFC Championship.

I think when it is all said and done the HOFers from the 90s teams will be: Woodson, Haley, Larry Allen, Emmitt, Irvin, Aikman, Sanders.

In my mind Woodson will always be ten times the Cowboy Emmitt Smith was. He just wasn't as selfish of a player and he was always about the team.

Geez, come on, I am sometimes for Media conspiracy or Media hates Cowboys, but that is just outright silly. Sure there might be some like Skip Baleless type of idiots who might say that, but heck no way, any legitimate NFL writer deny Emmit Smith. No Way, no how. His stats, rings, MVP's just make it moot.

Anyone trying to say Emmit is not first ballot HOF will be laughed out and probably called an idiot. Aikman or Irvin, you probably could had point, but Emmit, you just dont have a leg to stand on to question his credentials for HOF.

Emmitt will make it based on numbers soley.

Did you ever watch Emmitt play? I don't like his act now. But the dude ran the ball with so much heart and guts. The 90s team put a saddle on him and just rode him to glory. His numbers are great. But there is sooo much more

Emmitt is a given. Woodson may get in but it isn't a sure thing, same for Jimmy Johnson. Charles Haley will eventually get in but I think he will have to wait a while.

I don't think Too Tall will ever make it and in fact he should take a number behind George Andrie and Harvey Martin for Cowboys DEs who ought to be inducted. Danny White will never make it either.

Eddie George absolutely does NOT belong in the HoF. He was a great guy and all that but he wasn't a great RB. He was a workhorse back and was highly respected but that doesn't make him HoF worthy IMO. I also don't consider him a Dallas Cowboy.

So where are Chuck Howley, John Niland, Cliff Harris, Lee Roy Jordan, Don Perkins, Cornell Green, George Andrie, Harvey Martin, Jay Novacek, & Nate Newton? All of those guys are worthy of induction but most have never even had a sniff.

This is ridiculous. Without Emmitt we don't win 3 SBs.

I agree

While Woodson is a far more likable player, I think its a foolish argument to say he is "less of a Cowboy" than anyone (with the exception of Landry and Bob Lilly of course)

Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leading rusher, is among the 131 players, coaches and contributors who make up the preliminary list of nominees for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame that was announced Saturday.

As many of you know, Rick Gosselin is the Dallas presenter for the Hall of Fame and I'd like to make a suggestion for his speech to the fellow voters the day before the Super Bowl: "Ladies and gentlemen, Emmitt Smith." And then he sits down.

The list will be whittled down to 25 by Nov. 27 and the final 15 modern-era finalists will be announced Jan. 7, 2010.

In addition to Smith, Darren Woodson, Jimmy Johnson, Gil Brandt, Danny White, Herschel Walker, Charles Haley, Too Tall Jones, Dan Reeves and Eddie George are among the ex-Cowboys on the list. Wade Phillips' dad, Bum, is also under consideration.

It is looooonnnnnnngggggg overdue that Ed Sabol should be in the Hall. Are they waiting for him to die? Ask any long time fan especially one who goes back to the 70's and they will tell you NFL Films was a huge part in getting them to be such big fans. No other sport had anything close. It was as integral to the advancement of the game as the merger and the Super Bowl, ok not quite as much as the SB but its up there.

I remember back in the late 70's or early 80's I got five LP's of NFL films music. My friends used to go ape poop when they found out. I had to make so many cassettes for friends and friends of friends.

ELECT ED SABOL (then Steve like 10 years from now)!!!

Foolish? The guy was a huge part of the Dallas defense, a quiet leader who would pump up the crowd and make big hits that would turn the momentum of the game around. Both are great players who deserve to be in the HOF; I just think Woodson was more about the team. Emmitt, whether he admits it or not, was more about himself and his record towards the end of his career.

It's not like Darren Woodson missed many games or shied away from playing with injuries. And, he's not even dancing with stars these days. *double rolls eyes

Emmitt and Jerry Rice are no-brainer first ballot Hall of Famers.

What do you guys think about Aeneas Williams?

I believe he's a Hall of Famer too, but does he make it first ballot?

He'll make it but not the first time around. Great player though.
