Think about it.
actually you did play grammer police with this statement...im ok with you wanting to type and talk "perfect" but when you start insulting people in the process, you bring it to another level.7footer;3227769 said:???
I think I'm starting to understand why you are defending this so adamantly...lol Sorry, didn't mean to strike a nerve!

7footer;3228435 said:Good quote...But that still doesn't apply.
Here's the bottom line. I made a post that made light of very poor usage of grammar during a media interview...It was never intended to be anything more than a light-hearted comment.
This whole issue then ballooned into something much bigger than the intended purpose when people either made fallacious excuses about how it didn't matter because he was rich, or that this isn't English class. Or, they laid claims against me of either being a "grammar ****", or as you stated, that I and other defenders of the English language are trying to act like we are better than the rest of the posters...which are all complete nonsense.
All of the extra nit-picking and finger-pointing going on in this thread is ridiculous, and does nothing but extend an already WAY over-done topic in a whole new direction. I NEVER played "grammar police" against anyone in this thread, or picked a fight with anyone over their opinions. I only defended the facts and provided my own rational as to why I care (Teacher & English major) about the English language and the impact celebrities have on the population, especially young people.
That is all...Go Cowboys!

I'm a HUGE fan of Sensabaugh and I was one of his biggest proponents when I heard he was signed as a free agent. I originally pointed out the grammar mistake because it was funny, but if I'm actually being challenged as to why I pointed it out, then that's not saying much for our expectations of how people should speak, is it? Regardless of whether or not this is English class...I'm simply saying, it's bad form. Are you actually going to argue that?

7footer;3228279 said:Please...you may want to check that yourself. There is nothing wrong with what I stated. Sure, in a doctoral level paper it is preferable to omit redundancy by leaving out "I'm just saying", but it certainly doesn't contradict any rules of grammar.
Anyway, if you don't have any value to add to the discussion then why post? This was never intended to be a nit-picking session on the members of this forum. I simply pointed out a gross error in English made by one of our players when speaking to the media. Don't make it to be more than it is...

Don't point out grammatical errors on a public forum then commit them yourself if you don't want them pointed out to you.

7footer;3227787 said:Sure, I'm not saying that he wasn't speaking in a comfortable manner, or even in an excitable mode where he reverted back to bad habits...I was merely making a joke about it on the front page when a few posters tried to justify it because "he's a football player", or "he makes more than an English teacher". I have a very good understanding of why he may have spoken like this, and it was never meant to be a big deal until I started reading some of these off-the-wall responses.
