And they're not going to lose to the Vikings.

Linguists, who actually study this stuff, don't consider non-standard English as 'bad habits'.

We grill the opposing teams for saying they are going to win and call it "bulletin board material" but when one of our own says basically the same thing we call it confidence and use it as proof that we are going to win.
I'm not saying I don't agree with Sensy (because I do) but can we at least be consistent?

Brett Favre said Wednesday he'd be shocked if the Vikings lose. Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh countered on Thursday.
``We'd have to beat ourselves to lose,'' Sensabaugh said. ``The way we're playing right now, I don't think we can be beat.''
Favre told reporters that he expects to be doing his usual news conference next week, and envisions questions about preparing for the Saints or Cardinals. ``If that doesn't happen, to me that will be a shock.''
Sensabaugh said with a smile: ``He might can do a news conference, but he might be on the losing end. They have their confidence, we have our confidence. It will be a good game. I can't way to play them.''
Sensabaugh said he's not surprised that Favre is playing so well at age 40.
``He's going to be in the Hall of Fame one day,'' Sensabaugh said. ``I guess when the league takes him out he's not going to play anymore. He's a competitor, his love for the game is crazy. I see why he keeps coming back. He's winning so why wouldn't he?''

I'm a HUGE fan of Sensabaugh and I was one of his biggest proponents when I heard he was signed as a free agent. I originally pointed out the grammar mistake because it was funny, but if I'm actually being challenged as to why I pointed it out, then that's not saying much for our expectations of how people should speak, is it? Regardless of whether or not this is English class...I'm simply saying, it's bad form. Are you actually going to argue that?

this isn't the forum for language ***** or any other kind.
everyone under the age of 30 seems to text in alien code so the language purists are going to be doing a lot of rolling over in graves.
