I thought I was the Grammar Cop in this place. Apparently, there's competition for the job. Just as a matter of note, I will advise you all that you "speak funny" with your cute little American accents. Please feel free to call me or any other Canuck if you need an interpreter.;)

:laugh2:

your username is 7footer... it irks me that you didn't use seven-footer.

this isn't the forum for language ***** or any other kind.

everyone under the age of 30 seems to text in alien code so the language purists are going to be doing a lot of rolling over in graves.

Now you're just being silly...If you have a legitimate gripe with what I posted about on the first page, then by all means feel free to address it. If not, then why resort to desperate attempts to qualify a point that has no bearing on the discussion?

Also, I don't believe you are in charge of the rules about what I, or anyone else can post about pertaining to the topics of each thread. I wasn't being a "grammar ****" about anyone here on the message board...I simply raised an issue with how an educated athlete on our team chose to word his response to the media; knowing it would be printed for the public to see.

Like I originally said in the beginning of this entirely too long and drawn out discussion, I was actually having a laugh over it with my original post. I never meant this to be a serious shot at Sensabaugh or any of the members of this forum. However, when I was challenged on my opinions and why I posted what I did, I simply responded with my reasoning. Honestly, if I knew it was going to cause this much of a commotion, I never would have mentioned it to begin with...

For the record, we actually call you guys "Canuckys" (or is it "Canukies"? - I can't remember) in these parts.

No worries...I've been a "lurker" on this site for a while now...But I've been an active poster for the last three or four years on the DCC.com forum as well. I've never had a "forum face-off" with anyone on either of these sites before...I was kind of shocked that it happened here as I'm usually a pretty easy going type of guy.

Anyway...Go Cowboys! :)

Right now both teams are confident; Dallas does not need to go into the game with any doubt

Dallas does not need to go into the game shooting its mouth off. Minnessota is doing it because they are trying to mask their lack of confidence. If we do it, we only feed their confidence.

Whatever happened to doing your talking on the field?

Comments like Sensabaugh's (sp?) concern me because they indicate a lack of composure and mental toughness on his part. Hopefully it's not more widespread thruogh the team.

Dallas really needs to shut-up, worry about studying their rival, knowing their executable assignemnts, and letting their play take over from there. Trash-talking feeds none of that.

I couldn't agree more. Dallas has arrived to where they are by doing their talking with their play. I would love for them to keep doing it that way.

On the other hand, I think this is more of soft ribbing by both teams, rather than headlines.

I usually don't get into a lengthy debate on much of anything here either. And no, i didn't expect it drag out this long either. I was pretty sure after a couple of exchanges you would have asked for mercy and and that would have been it. ;) :p:

No hard feelings. We're all here for the same reason and that is the 'Brotherhood'. Thats all that matters.

No, he isn't. Linguists study how language evolves and English has a long history that hasn't even begun to slow down.

8th grade English teachers may hate how we ruin the "King's/Queen's language" but linguists do not. Tho is every bit as proper as though. I know because I wrote my paper in linguistics over just such a topic.

And you would be wrong as well. The so-called "bad habits" infer dialect and are absolutely considered ESPECIALLY if you're a military linguist!

I can only presume that your teacher (and please note that I did not use the word "professor") issued you a failing grade.

It is not going to hurt anything, everyone knows this is win or done situations. Sensabaugh showing some confidence is not hurting anything. I can promise you there is not a member of this team who feels any different about going out and winning this game. As far as doing his job he knows how to do that and I'm sure he will be ready to play.

As far as lack of composure or lack of mental toughness that is what they have been dealing with over the last few weeks in the face of doubters this team is tough and mentally strong, I think some of our fans lack a hell of a lot.

Oh my the Vikes may see this? Who care if you can't get up for a game like this then you don't belong in it?

Jimmy Johnson once said put it in 3 inch letter we will beat the Niners he did it because he believed in his team and I think Sensabugh believes in his team

Did this thread really become an English course?

Wow. So fail.

And yet you chose to not only read each post but then to write one as well.

So what would that say about you? Major fail? Utterly complete fail? Bill Nichols fail?

Why not? Good Lord...these are professional athletes who have (mostly) either graduated with a bachelors degree, or at least spent a few years in college. You would think Sensabaugh "might could" put together a sentence without blatant abuses to the English language.

I'm a HUGE fan of Sensabaugh and I was one of his biggest proponents when I heard he was signed as a free agent. I originally pointed out the grammar mistake because it was funny, but if I'm actually being challenged as to why I pointed it out, then that's not saying much for our expectations of how people should speak, is it? Regardless of whether or not this is English class...I'm simply saying, it's bad form. Are you actually going to argue that?
You are correct, sir. I applaud you for insisting that a well structured English sentence, a simple declaratory sentence be said with attention to grammar rules. I have the same argument almost daily with a friend of mine who employs improper English. I think it is an embarassment. But you and I may be in the distinct minority in our "come as you are" society.

From a Mosley article

The Cowboys also added former Jaguars safety Gerald Sensabaugh during free agency. He solidified an area that had been in a state of flux since Darren Woodson retired because of a back injury in 2004. Sensabaugh has been a better player than Pro Bowler Ken Hamlin, who hasn't lived up to his big contract.

"When all hell breaks loose, you want Sensabaugh on your side," said one highly ranked member of the organization who asked not to be identified. "He's highly, highly respected by pretty much everyone in the organization. There's a toughness and a swagger to his approach that other guys just feed off of."
