Of the Cowboys' six draft picks, only Wall did not make the opening-day roster. Houston picked up Wall but released him today.

It was a tough day for former Cowboys' sixth-round picks. Miami released linebacker Erik Walder, a sixth-round choice in 2008.

6th round picks are gambles anyway but in these 2 cases (Walden and Wall) I thought they were questionable picks at the time. I never saw much in Wall and I had never even heard of Walden. I fact, I think only Mel Kiper knew of him out of all the talking heads. We seem to do better with our 7th round picks and UDFA's.

Exactly... 6th round picks have been horrible.

I'm not sure what it is with Dallas and 6th round picks... I don't know if that's the round the scouts head out to pick up food and Jerreh picks whoever he feels like picking or what... But more often than not, they seem to reach for guys in the 6th round who are not highly thought of by anyone... other than the Cowboys.

there is a reason why NFL players time in the NFL are very short....4-5 years.....its not just injuries.....its because late round picks get replaced easily

A sixth round pick who plays for four years isn't a bust.

You must be thinking of Eric Walden, we're talking about Eric Walder tonight.

A 6th round pick is a reach?

They are when the Cowboys draft'em. I didn't see anything positive in draft guides about Walden. And Wall? You could look at the numbers and see he wasn't capable of being a corner in the NFL. Not fast enough. I think the kid they signed to the practice squad McCann is a better prospect.

I think both McCann and even Teddy Williams were better prospects.

Wall did nothing in college, showed nothing in the pre-season games and is too slow.

Draft guides and looking and numbers?

Damn, you are basically a Pro Scout right there on your couch.

Late round picks are such a crap shoot......even more so then the first 3 rounds....

You get lucky with 7th rounders like Rat......but more likely you miss on 6th and 7th.........I like to know how many 6th rounders from a few yrs ago are still in the league.

Its common now that teams have more undrafted players making their clubs ....I think the Packers had two start the other nite....

You miss on some draft picks.....you hit on undrated ones....

I had hopes for Wall even though I never saw him play in college. I bought into the hype.

Yes, you were dead right on Walden 4 years later.

He didn't help the Cowboys much.

I'm not sure how much he helped Miami quite frankly.
