If there's even a NG in FA available that's worthy of such a contract. If not, then get the best one available, give him LESS money and still move Ratliff to RE.

There isn't a NG in the entire league, much less in FA, that's worth that contract.

A true NG is a two down lineman, meaning part time player. That type of contract is reserved for impact/3 downs players.

Canty's agent should put the pipe away this off season.

They said that about beach front property many years ago. His numbers are about right. He's a solid steady 3-4 DE who is a team player. You don't hear his name a lot. That's a good thing for a 3-4 DE.

He'll get his money but I don't know if Jerry hasn't broke the bank again. He gets in good shape then goes out and blows the money. I wish he would spend more on scouting and less on FA's and gambles but what do I know.

The contract skewed the market certainly but unless Oaktown is in the market then it doesn't matter all that much. I think its accepted around the league that Oaktowns management is incompetent and as such making deals like that are not going to be the norm.

I'm OK going with Bowen and Hatcher and getting a bigger NT/NG type. Haynesworth would be a pipe dream.. so whoever is next in line that can secure the middle.
