The Cowboys had a season-high 13 penalties for 90 yards.

"I'm surprised they're that small," owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. "It seemed like we were getting one every time we turned around."

One penalty Jones did not believe should have been called a penalty was the unnecessary roughness flag on defensive back Alan Ball, who was called for helmet-to-helmet contact on wide receiver Bobby Wade.

Making matters worse it came on third-and-26 from the Kansas City 11 to keep the Chiefs' drive alive although it ended in a blocked field goal.

"I candidly can't coach Ball out of that," Jones said. "I can't. That's hard for me to see with the way he played the ball and the play he made. That's a tough penalty and a tough rule with the way they interpret it."

Interesting that Ball said "coach" no?

My wife and I were in a sports ball, ... couldn't hear a thing.

Why was that a penalty?

I thought it was a great defensive play.

How can they not call it on the Romo's hit yet they call that on Ball. That's just horrible officiating.

They called a Helmet-to-helmet personal foul penalty.

I think this is supposed to read: "Interesting that Jerry said "coach" no?"

Just a terrible rule. It shouldn't be so subjective. The rule should be helmet to helmet and thats it. Also they might want to look at reviewing calls.

The actual call, I believe, was hitting the helment of a defenseless receiver. Last year, it wasn't against the rule if your shoulder pad made contact with the helment; this year.. it is.

That interpretation of the rule is (as Charles Barkley would say) "turrible." The rules committee is slowly eroding away what makes football such a great game.

Ball's shoulder didn't touch the receivers helmet. But Troy and Joe are probably still saying that he did. A-Holes.

I hope someone asks him about the rest of the team because penalties sucked this game.

Horrible call, i'm all about protecting these guys, but c'mon. We get the ball at midfield after that abortion of a call.

What I find interesting is that the media will dwell on Jerry saying he can't coach Ball out of that and instead ignoring the HORRENDOUS call by the refs and the HORRENDOUS officiating...on both sides...of the game and the HORRENDOUS officiating that is going around league wide, every single week.

This eerily reminds me of 2005 when the officiating was HORRENDOUS the entire year, the league and the media completely ignored it and it bit them in the arse when the officiating was HORRENDOUS in the playoffs and the Super Bowl. People remember the officiating being HORRENDOUS in the Seahawks vs. Steelers game, but it was also HORRENDOUS in the Colts vs. Steelers AFC Championship game, particularly the call where Polamalu caught an interception, went to the ground, rolled over twice and then got up and accidently kneed the ball and recovered the fumble. Of course, that was called an incomplete pass.

So AGAIN, the officiating continues to be HORRENDOUS and the NFL does nothing to prevent this. Way to go, Goodell.

BTW, this post is sponsored by the word horrendous.

Yes, please elaborate Jerry.

Jerry had a slip of the tongue there. You know what is crazy? I have heard several rookies refer to him as coach when they get the draft day phone call. I've heard it multiple times.
