When its as bad and as blatant as yesterday, its a serious question that needs to be addressed. Nobody thought NBA officials would ever be involved with gambling either, and we know how that played out.

I think the line was 9 or 9 1/2 yesterday. I'd say they had at least a 10-14 point effect on the game, easily.

I still never saw what Kosier did to draw a holding penalty to wipe out MBIII's big run to set up 1st and goal. Witten absolutely went balistic on the officials regarding Miles Austin illegal formation penalty, and you could see Austin clearly wondering what he did. Newman did basically the same thing we saw Champ Bailey do last week, yet he drew a flag and Bailey didnt. Ball's call was total crap. It is inexplicable how the refs (particularly the guy who basically ONLY looks for two things, holding and roughing the QB) could watch that play on Romo and not throw a flag. There were a couple others as well.

Its truly sickening.

I LOL'd in disbelief at how the league is becoming more and more like the marshmallow man that coaches our team. There was a Chiefs fan sitting a few feet away from me watching the same big screen. I expressed my belief (rather loudly) that it was a bull**** call and he quickly agreed with me. It was universally known to have been utter bull****.

Borderline teams are influenced by "bad officiating". Poor ticky tack calls can and will influence games if you put yourselves in positions with small margins for error.

The bigger concern out of this blog entry would be our General Manager suggesting he has a single solitary thing to do with coaching these types of mistakes (and yes, Ball made a mistake) out of our players. It is a problem if Jones, either by will or by necessity, has to "coach" any player about their behavior. That is the coach's job. If he cannot allow himself to stay out of it, then he needs to officially put the cap and whistle on to avoid confusion. All it does is send the wrong message to players and makes an already weak staff even weaker.

That, and not the incessant bleating about unfair officiating should be all that anyone should take out of it.

It was not a bad call. By the letter of the rule, it is the correct call. New rule this year.

"[Unnecessary roughness includes] … if the initial force of the contact by a defender’s helmet, forearm, or shoulder is to the head or neck area of a defenseless receiver who is catching or attempting to catch a pass."

I started watching Cowboys games and the NFL in 1977 at age 8. I can NEVER remember the number of bad calls that happen now. But I do have a theory: NO, I don't think the "fix is in" and Las Vegas is controlling things. (although I can certainly see why other people would speculate that is happening)What I've noticed the last couple years in the league is a concerted effort to keep the game close: period. Why do you think so many games go down to the last play now? That use to be pretty rare. They make every call with the intention of keeping it as close as possible so the TV sets stay on, the commercials are viewed, and the ratings stay high. I know a few of you will be disgusted by the possibility of the NFL being a party to this but I really believe it. LOTS of games these days go down to the wire because the zebras make sure they do. It's all great drama. But I'll also say this....you want to see bad officiating? Watch college football.........unreal.

To me it looked as if Ball put his shoulder on the upper chest plate of the WR not the head. No doubt the WR head snapped back but that happens when your forward progress coming to an abrupt stop. I felt it was a close call but did not think he hit the WR in the head

The officiating for the most part was inept. How they don't call a horse collar tackle is beyond me...couldn't of been more obvious. Also the helmet to helmet on Romo non-call was horse poo. You don't think Brady would of gotten that call?

That interpretation of the rule is (as Charles Barkley would say) "turrible." The rules committee is slowly eroding away what makes football such a great game.

Every year in the beginnig of the season it seems the calls are often and questionable. I'll give them knocking off the rust and possibly setting the tone for a season of officiating but.................there is still no consistency. Something that has needed addressed for years now.

Let the guys play football. I find nothing worse than an officiating crew that dictates the game and the possible outcome. See the Stealer/ Seahags Super Bowl.
