DMN Blog: Jerry Jones Rules Out Any WR That Hasn't Worked With Romo..

You think this is something new? You think Hurd, Austin or Stanback would have changed that?

Sure those three are a better option than Jefferson, Amendola or whoever else can be brought in from the street but none of the guys on team or on the street would command so much attention to change what you just described.
Better shot than the undrafted rookies.

I'm not trying to be *****y, even though it probably reads that way. I'm just waiting to read some viable, REALITY type options because Terry Glenn and Joe Horn aren't season long or even half-a-season long alternatives.

Not at all, not taking it that way at all.

As for Glenn and Horn... sorry.. neither would be my choice.

Million dollar question.

Okay, what are our alternatives other than Jefferson and Amendola already on the roster? Who will we plug in for Austin and Hurd? With respect, will that be Terry Glenn and Joe Horn?

HUH. that was my point. We have to now carrry at least amendola. None of the other guys can play at all and we already have a guy who I think has a big bag of nothing in stanbach.

there is no room for another project at wr. It has to be amendola. If we are forced to keep jefferson that will suck because that means a good player at another spot got bumped.

me personally, I would be trying like crazy to go get something at wr from another team. Someone young with decent ability.

...who then?

This is the question which confronts Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips right now. Hopefully, for our sakes, they're looking at viable wide receiver options both currently on and off the roster.

By the time another "weapon" is brought in and gets up to speed, our wounded "weapons" will be ready to play again...

I guess you think we can sign a WR this week, and he'll be ready to produce in Cleveland...

There is only one thing to do.... Get Boldin! Offer a first and a third and get it done!

Do guys on the PUP count against the roster?

Would it be possible to throw whoever is going to be out the longest onto the PUP and keep someone for the time being?

Million dollar question. I said before... Get Boldin! Give a first and a conditional third.

they cant go to pup now.

And anyone that is on the roster the first week gets paid for the whole season. I have to believe that is why we are going to cleveland with crayton, owens and amendola.

Maybe the monday morning of the eagles game we sign someone, maybe even glenn but I doubt it.

I just know this offense needs to get healthy fast or the season will be down the tubes in early october.

Sorry about that.

I think we can get by with Amendola as an option until Austin heals up. Jefferson is a big question mark for me, so I don't think it's out of the question that we can pick up a 4th or a 5th wide receiver to replace him sometime during this weekend's cuts. I'm projecting that we'll be looking for serviceable wide receivers. If we're going after replacements for an Owens getting injured scenario , I just don't see it.

Norm hitzges wont shut up about a small deal with detroit for mcdonald or furrey.

Who knows.

No, they don't.

Once the six weeks is up, the team has a week or so to either activate the player by placing him on the 53 man roster or end his season on injured reserve.

No, it wouldn't.

PUP is for pre-camp injuries. The player must be injured and unable to pass his entry physical when training camp opens.

Teams would hide developmental prospects on PUP if they could place any injured player on it during training camp in order to avoid exposing them to waivers.

I could live with that myself.

Thanks for the info. Makes sense.

If T.O. went down, this team would be screwed anyways.. doesn't matter if we add #4 and/or #5 receivers behind him... That's just with any other team with a star player.

I'm saying, why add another reciever when we have 3 of them coming back in less than a month

Did Witten get hurt

Will Felix Jones be removed from the catching-the-ball-out-of-the-backfield equation

:hammer:

No matter what Jerry says, I think the Cowboys will be studying the waiver wire for any WR who can help us. While it unlikely a good vet WR gets caught in the numbers game, you never know. After all, the Cowboys did due diligence by picking up an experienced, but still youthful 26 year old OG in Holland.

Jerry is not dumb he just doesn't know what he is doing. I give him credit he is stickin to his guns. In april he said no wr could beat out hurd and now even with hurd and the gang hurt noone can beat them out. He did the same thing with troy aikman if u havea qb u should get him a new wr each year and danny doesn't cut it

Its funny cause during "the Owners Box" tonight with the great kristie scales Jerry said He didnt feel they needed to keep any more than 4 or 5 wr.

that says a ton about the rest of the guys trying to make this team.

We are in a pickle now.

Keep it in perspective though. This has been an unusual rash of injuries at that position and they are not season threatening. Austin may be back mid September. Hurd's ankle sprain although problematic may not be as severe and he could be back in a few weeks as well.

We may have some offset with three receiving oriented tight ends (Witten, Bennet, Curtis) and a quick and versatile RB in Julius Jones who is a very good receiver.
