Yeah, he would've fired the GM.

On Jason Garrett's playcalling: "It's so easy to second guess playcalling. I think it goes with the territory. You've got to win consistently to keep it from happening. I do know what we do is well thought out."
On if he would ever hire a coach/general manager type: "No ... I don't have anything I don't manage. I just don't."

3 superbowl rings, new amazing stadium and a passionate owner willing to spend money............yeah horrible.
Show me all the owners who have won 3 SB's in 20 years and provided their team with the luxuries the Cowboys have.........
Sure we are in a drought, it kills me just as much as it kills you but it's not like the guy feels any better about it then we do and I'm pretty sure if he could change it tomorrow no matter the cost he would.

Jerry the owner most fans are thankful for. Its the other roles he insists on taking. Last week his talking about breaking down game film on his radio show was just a sign that we are back to where we were earlier in the decade.
Only now we have more talent and real expectations. Not many really cared in the earlier part of the decade, we were expected to lose. 2009 is different.
I personally cant take anymore selling of the stadium. I am simply sick of that place and him talking about it.

How exactly does a terrible GM have a team that has so much talent on his team? I guess that makes sense?
Sure maybe the coaching staff isn't the greatest in the league, and maybe they all should've been fired after last season. But the bottom line is that this team has trouble learning the playbook after three years of the same coaching staff, how are they gonna learn a new playbook in one off season? They'd be more confused then ever out there with a new scheme... but at least that would give everyone a built in excuse right?
Doomsday;2996014 said:So attacking Bailey 13 times and going after the journeyman playing opposite him 2 times was the way Garrett drew it up?
Double Trouble;2996108 said:Jerry Jones really makes anything that could be done to improve the Cowboys a moot point. It's preposterous.
As long as people keep showing up at the stadium, he'll have little incentive to change. Having this guy being the final say on personnel transactions is nauseating. Laugh at Al Davis all you want, we're not in much better shape than they are.
The evidence is clear: Jerry would much prefer to keep things as they are and never even sniff another super bowl, than to hire a GM and admit his complete failure in the product the Cowboys put on the field since the team began to fall apart in the mid-90s.
Were that not the case, there's no way he'd keep the current egomaniac GM employed. 13 years of failure gets any NFL coach, GM or director of personnel fired....except when you're the owner, too.
The situation is completely hopeless as long as he's running the show.
Over the last 24 games, Dallas is 12-12. It's what the team is. To argue otherwise at this point is ridiculous. If the last 24 games isn't enough evidence as to how far we are from being a great team, I don't know what it takes. This first month alone should've dispelled the notion the faithful had that last years was an aberration brought about by a bunch of injuries.
Maybe 3 more years of 9-7? Would that do it?
This team needs a drastic housecleaning, starting with the moron at the top.

Bach;2996155 said:You have to look at how many of these guys were brought here by Parcells and Ireland. You also have to look at the coaching staff, which Jerry was responsible for the HC, OC, DB coach, OL, and a few others. You also have to look at the atmosphere that is put in place and the undermining that occurs, although not intentionally.

I caught some of Jerry Jones on his weekly appearance on The Fan this morning, and he was not ready to throw away the season after a 2-2 start. No shocker.
Anyway, here's what he said:
"I really like our team. I like the makeup of our team. I like the quarterback a lot. I've been part of a team that lost the first two games and won a Super Bowl. You've got to be a little careful when you've got the length of a season that we've got."
On Jason Garrett's playcalling: "It's so easy to second guess playcalling. I think it goes with the territory. You've got to win consistently to keep it from happening. I do know what we do is well thought out."
On if he would ever hire a coach/general manager type: "No ... I don't have anything I don't MICROMANAGE. I just don't."
