Martellus Bennett needs to get to business

Jerry Jones has a message for Martellus Bennett: it's time to get down to business.
After seeing Anthony Spencer and Mike Jenkins improve greatly in 2009, Jones believes Bennett can make significant strides if he puts his mind to it.
"There's a big difference in the down to business of those two guys. Spencer has been down to business since he walked in the door," Jones said. "Bennett can get down to business. I know that he can ... The bottom line is, we all see what a tremendous weapon he is and can be. His blocking is really as impressive as his ability to be a big target for [Tony] Romo. I'm confident he sees that. He's extremely smart. He can get it. I think focus would be the word. He will get a lot more Tweets if he's a big-time ballplayer than he will just off of his creative ability."
Bennett was largely a non-factor in his second year, catching 15 passes for 159 yards and no touchdowns after having a tremendous training camp. Bennett missed two games with a concussion and saw his playing time cut by John Phillips. However, he had two catches in the divisional loss to Minnesota.

That Roy Williams will be back in 2010 should not be a surprise or even a question, although I'm sure it upsets some of you after his less-than-spectacular season. But owner and general manager Jerry Jones acknowledged Williams' contract is "a major consideration," that plays a part in the decision.
Williams is due a $9.5 million roster in March that is guaranteed.
But Jones remains confident Williams' numbers will improve in 2010.
"You look at how he came early and stayed late, tried to improve, looked for ways to maximize his value," Jones said. "All of those things are a major consideration. His contract is a major consideration. You look at that. Do you compromise your football team? No. No. I've done far more than that financially in thinking at the time I've compromised the football team. I do not think that is the case with Roy as I sit right here. I do not think that is the case. We've got a player that has the will and has the ability."
And Jones puts his optimism in Williams on Wade Phillips' ability to get players to fill roles.
"Wade has a skill," Jones said. " Let me just say this: One of the No. 1 things I was told about Wade from people that had worked with him in teams he'd been with - he knows what a football player looks like. But he knows in a way that you don't see on ESPN or you don't see on scouting reports or you don't see sometimes even with scouts. He can see some things that they do well and how the offense or defense can be tailored to fit those things. Bobby Carpenter, this year. He can take the skills and put them in that spot, so consequently I really value Wade when we're drafting. I value his opinion on what a football player can be, because it can go beyond what you normally might see. Even production of players. Consequently, it's one of the reasons, and I must say, it's one of the reasons I'm excited about him being our head coach."
And Phillips' reaction?
"That's part of what I have to do - take a guy with talent that wants to work hard, which he did," Phillips said. "He came in more than two weeks before everybody else last year. That's why I'm disappointed more in myself than I am with him. We've got to - I've got to - find a way to help him get better within the whole scheme. Now we still had a prolific offense. We still scored a lot of points. We were third in the league in offense. It wasn't like it just killed our offense not to have that production, but I think we can have more with him, and that's part of what we have to do as coaches."
