Former Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson was taken aback by Wade Phillips' performance before the media this week.

``There is no need for the media to beat up on Wade Phillips like that, but he's always on the defensive,'' Johnson said today in his role of analyst with FOX Sunday. `` He's got to look at the media and point and say, 'You listen! We're 8-4. We have a chance to win 12 games. You don't believe we're winners? I'm a winner and we've got winning football players. If you don't believe that we're a winner come on outside and I'll show you we're a winner!' ''

Which is why Jerreh got rid of Jimmy, and now hires coaches like Wade.

Unfortunately that's not Wade's personality, nor will it ever be.

I've said it many times, but the reason I dont believe in Wade is because he is simply not a leader of men.

He's a great football mind, but he's not a leader of men. Period.

Help me out here. Isn't that exactly what Wade did? Defended himself? Brought up stats to back his claim that he and his players are winners and the media wrote him off as someone who's just settling for mediocrity.

exactly
Wade is ever body's favorite uncle. But i don't think any man comes away with the feeling that Wade can inspire, lead or overcome adversity.

Well Jerry hired Parcells just before Wade and he didn't distinguish himself either in 4 years and he is Mr. Tough Guy with the press.

And he conviniently leaves out the fact that Jimmy also called Steve Dennis ( well he said that Idiot reporter) an idiot for asking such a question. I am sure media never likes to hide any facts and only bring out stuff thats positive towards.

Whole week, it was Woe is us Media about Players blasting them and that Players need media to motivate them, blah blah. The fact is, they like being called on, but love to call on players and coaches.

And to Wade, there is a reason he gets no respect. Because he only brings up stats when it is convinient to him or positive towards him. Thats why media gets annoyed with his positive persona.

everybody needs to stop giving Wade advice saying he should do this or change that. he is who he is and that will never change.

But he had media eating out of his hands though. No one ever dared to ask BP any challenging questions, except maybe Dale Hansen couple of times.
