Veteran linebacker Keith Brooking has quickly become a team leader for the Cowboys. He seems to have gained the respect of everyone in the locker room, players and coaches.

Wade Phillips talked about how he was on the sideline Sunday when things were going bad against Kansas City, yelling that, "We're going to win this game," and staying positive even when it seemed like everything was going wrong for the Cowboys.

Brooking said expectations for the Cowboys are quite different than when he was in Atlanta. He said there, it was just about winning.

"I think the expectations are very unrealistic [here]," Brooking said. "I'm not talking about within this locker room, but on the outside of this circle. Every game is a brawl. Every game is hold on and find a way to win at the end. Very seldom do you have blowouts in this league. We just have to have that belief. And we believe.

"The only thing that matters is right here inside this circle. I love our fans. I love the attention that we get. That is something that is very exciting to me, but at the same time, when you really get down to the nuts and bolts of it, you have to worry about right here, what's right here in this locker room and stay together, keep pulling and take care of small things and it will show up on Sunday."

He is turning out to be a fantastic offseason pick-up.

I bet he is going to be really fired up for the Atlanta game.

You are right, I didn't even think about that. This guy is fired up already, he may pass out in this game. Brooking is what we all thought Zach Thomas would be last year.

Great addition. Wasn't sure at first, but, I like this guy more and more every week. Plays with a lot of fire too.

I love Brooking, I do, he's a breath of fresh air. But the question has to be asked why do the Giants, Vikings, Saints and Eagles enjoy blowouts over teams they are supposed to blow out and we don't?

It might be time to buy a Keith brooking jersey.

I hope he continues to preach this.

One of the things that makes me want to explode more than anything is this entitled notion from the fans of this team and the media.

that Hey we are Dallas attitude, we need to win superbowls.....It is the dumbest stance.

we are americas team, we have 5 superbowls, we did this we did that.

I have been begging for someone to shut that idiotic notion up for years, parcells had it nipped early then in 05 when the talent level jumped it was right back to ....you suck if you dont win the superbowl nonsense.

Thank you keith. I love that brooking is here in the exact year we have 4 young linebackers.

Because the Cowboys aren't the Giants, Vikings, Saints, and Eagles.

They're inconsistent, don't play smart football for 60 minutes, and they don't have a dynamic defense that can force turnovers.

All the teams you mentioned have at least two of those three character traits.

Blowouts tend to be 2 fold, 1 team playing very well and the other team making many mistakes. Most games in the NFL between 1 good team and 1 bad team still comes down to a few plays making the differance. Seattle smoked Jacksonville yesterday but that score does not tell me Seattle is that much better than Jacksonville it just tells me on this day Seattle played a good game and Jacksonville made some critical mistakes

Exactly right. Turnovers are a big part of what those teams do.

Just say it, Keith: We have some of the most ignorant fans anywhere.

Just listening to the postgame shows yesterday, I heard that we should bench Romo for a game or two to get his head right and that Flo, Crayton, or Newman should be cut -- yes, cut -- to shake up the team and make a statement.

And the latter was from a 105.3 host, not a caller!

Unbelievable.

Guess he didnt hear about the Giant/Raider game.

Dont agree with him here. the record for the 3 teams we beat is 1-13. We should be winning them with a little more ease

Case in point...just look at the lines each week. Most of them are under a touchdown and many much tighter than that. Those are the expectations and usually the reality. This past weekend, Dallas was favored by 6 over KC.

Oh yeah...some (almost all) of those sports talk show hosts are more ignorant than the very biggest idiot fans.
