How are expectations to stay onsides, not go before the snap, and not fumble unrealistic?

I disagree with your thoughts on the expectations.

Bill Parcells even stated that the fans overrate this team. The Dallas Cowboys have enjoyed so much success throughout the years, that expectations are insanely unrealistic every year.

As I stated, the only people upset with 3-2 and the way we have played are those that bought into the Superbowl/NFC Champions Hype.

BTW, welcome to Dallas Keith, the expectations are insanely high, but that isn't going to change, so get used to it.

One of the main reason they are playing in a billion dollar stadium where the citizens of Arlington pitched in about half and you have all those prime time games are because of the fans, no matter how stupid people perceive them to be.

I dunno about that man... I've rated this a 10-6 team the past few seasons (well, apart from the 2004 season with Father Time Testaverde at QB, in which anything above 0-16 was a Godsent miracle to me)

I don't think, with the talent we have on this team, that playing better and making less of the same mistakes is too much to ask

I think some of us are a bit upset with their play because we don't feel the club has played to their ability. Getting out played is one thing self inflicted mistakes are another.

Yesterday KC was not making mistakes they were just out manned which was why for most of the day they could not convert 3rd downs or move the ball their scores came off a short field on 2 errors that they did not create Crayton fumbles the punt and the the ball being knocked out of Romo hands.

Those mistake were Cowboys mistake by themselfs KC did nothing to cause them and frankly in each game Dallas has played I don't think it was due to being outmanned as much as it has been their own mistakes.

I'll admitt, my expectations are pretty high, probably too high for this team.

Dallas has to stop the unforced error that is something they can do. The 2 turnovers had nothing to do with KC playing great another one I almost forgot about but sent me through the roof yesterday what the fair catch by Newman and instead of running up under the ball he lets in bounce at the 20 yard line and it roles inside the 5. I mean come on in jr high we were told to come up and catch the damn ball in that situations Newman knows better than that or should.

I agree and like you said, the reason a lot of us are so damn upset is because these are self-inflicted wounds here.

In 2004, we were outmanned in nearly every game but we were hopeful because of budding new stars like Julius Jones (at the time), the possibility of a new QB (Drew Henson) etc... and we had next year to look forward to increasing our talent significantly

Now, we have the talent. We have a franchise quarterback, 3 good running backs, a pro bowl TE, one of the best defensive players in the league (Ware) etc, and we have jack **** to show for it.

We have the talent to be better than we are showing up with on Sundays.

Exactly. It sucked losing back then but you knew we did not have the players to match up with the top teams. It is one thing to see a defender put a helmet on the ball and force a turnover and another to watch a guy let the punt slip through his hands giving it to the other team or being in the redzone and seeing someone jump offside or any number of mental mistakes.

Personally I think this team can get into together but me thinking it and them doing it is 2 different things. We will see.

My God why can't our fans spell our own players' names correctly?

There is no "s" on the end of "BROOKING."

At some point Dallas Cowboys fans are going to have to realize that so called "self-inflicted wounds" and "giving" games away are problems most poor to medicore football clubs face on a weekly basis.

Being careless with the ball, penalties, turnovers and mental mistakes are as much of a sign of a bad football team as being devoid of talent is.

I love Brooking, I do, he's a breath of fresh air. But the question has to be asked why do the Giants, Vikings, Saints and Eagles enjoy blowouts over teams they are supposed to blow out and we don't?

It's a fair question, but Pittsburgh won the SB last year and they are 3-2 and just beat the Lions by 8.

The Giants have a QB who is really playing great ball right now while ours has been having a rough time. The Giants and Eagles also have better WRs than we have and probably better OLs.

If Romo gets back to playing like Romo soon, and if Miles Austin can become more consistant, opening things up for Roy and Crayton, and we get our RBs all back healthy, Dallas might get to the point of playing better as well. 3 of the 4 teams you named are 5-0 right now, and our two losses were to 5-0 teams on the final play of both games, despite the team playing pretty badly.

There's still hope.

BTW, everyone who is Bagging on Jerry's GM skills and Phillips in general, need to tip their cap to this addition.

This was a targeted pickup for the exact reasons we are seeing before us.

Brooking's response is spot on. All that matters is what the men in that locker room feel and think. If it's negative get rid of it. Do what ever it takes to get a winning attitude.

The perception fans have is the "if only we stopped (insert form of bad football play here) we would be contenders" Its as if they see the mistakes, turnover, penalties, blown assignments, general carelessness and cluelessness as foreign to an otherwise healthy organism, without recognizing that these things are exactly what defines a bad team.

Our coaching really stinks, but some of these players have been making the same mistakes for years under several different coaching regimes (Flozell, Gurode) and others have just packed it in (Hamlin). We are what we are and that is a 3-2 team that has only beaten teams with a combined one win.

Part of this probably comes from the experience of 2006 where we looked anemic, lost and hopeless with Bledsoe until Parcells showed the ultimate stones and put in Romo, who ignited the team to success for a few weeks. But even at the end of 2006, the same old tendencies came out and we ended up on the losing end of the games that counted.
