Doctors are reluctant to drain it as (based on what I was told) it is more prone to rupture and just fills with fluid again anyway. It isn't an injury that has much to do with the knee itself, but a good lick will pump it up for a week or two. Time is best cure, although I doubt it'll show much difference by Sunday.

Yup, this is true. In HS, had the same happen to me. Looked like you put a grapefruit under the kneecap. Time was about the only thing they said would help it. They draining it at the ER, but it filled right back up and then ruptured - the fluid went throughout my leg, and was bruised from the upper thigh, to my ankle. Pretty nasty looking and my knee was stiff as ---- for a while.

Yeah, I have bursa sac issues at my right hip, and I get it injected with cortizone every year or so to help. It helps right away.

Of course, some players don't like injections.

I have the some problem, but I think it's something like Nick Folk had. It's been hurting since I injured it 3 years ago. Took cortizone pills but they wore off.

The injections aren't bad at all, but they wear off for me.

Yeah, it looks horrible but really didn't hurt too much when I had it. I think it was nearly 2 weeks tho until it felt 100%. That's with a ton of ice, vitamin I, and resting it. Looked pretty freaky tho like it would pop at any minute and was VERY stiff. Barber looked like he had pretty good flex, tho...so he may have just stiffened up some and the other RBs were lighting it up, so the rest is just a plus.

Impossible. He was benched even though he was fine.

A source who is able to read lips told me that.

Don't be blind homers.

I have a chronic issue in my right knee with a swollen bursa sack. It's fluid filled sack that sits inbetween the bones in the knee.

It is ****** painful, extremely painful. To this day if I break into a sprint I end up hobbling. It is bad, bad, bad news.

I'm in the minority, but it's a big loss if we don't have Barber for next week. Especially with any uncertainty around Choice's status.

Let's hope that another week off makes a difference.

It's not curable?

I think Choice had a "neck stinger." How bad is that?

It might require minor surgery, swollen bursa sack can be caused by cartiledge damage in the knee, as it is in my case. If its not something that goes away in a week's time on its own it could potentially take him out of the playoffs.

For me personally, I just don't have the money to have it fixed. I'm sure thats not a problem for MBIII.

I'll ignore the sarcasm because its obvious you have no clue what you're talking about.

It seems like they could do surgery.

The last time I was in they told me if I didn't start working my leg muscles out more my knees would deteriorate. I did that Saturday and it made both hips worse. I'm gonna to ask for them to be scoped next time I see the dr.

I had this same type of issue with my knee two years ago. Hurt like heck. The doc game me some sort of anti-inflammatory medication and an antibiotic. It took 2 weeks before I could run again. I am sure Barber has access to better treatment than I did although I am tougher than he is.

Peyton Manning had a similar issue last off season.

It's ashame Barber is hurt because he is still a solid back. He's been banged up all year and it's really showed. Right now Felix and Choice are better so lets keep rolling with them. Until MB3 is healthy its better to keep him on the pine. And if that's not until next year so be it.

Mine was not painful, but got real stiff. To the other comments about Barber and rather have Choice and Jones...why would you not want all three?? When you get whittled down to one or two, then the next thing is you have no other options but whoever is healthy and able to run. We've been there and done that...it sucked if you can't remember. Does the name Troy Hambrick ring a bell? how about the dumb ***....Williams (can't recall his 1st name)..the one who was muling weed for extra cash in the off season several years ago. Barber still can rip off a few long runs for us as seen versus Philly just 2 weeks ago. Choice is good, but he has been dinged up a few times just like Felix. Be careful what you wish for.

Well it did not hurt to have him watch the game from the sidelind on Saturday.

I would like to have him as an option for the game.

Best to have 3 loaded guns ready to fire at the Vikings.

I'm sure he'll be fine by the time the game rolls around to at least give it a go but I think our boys Choice and Jones will do just fine for us.

Didn't Manning have to have surgery to repair his?

Yes, because it became worse. Initially Manning only had an inflamed bursa sac and received treatment for months(Feb 2008 to July 2008). It later became infected, so he had surgery in July 2008 to have it removed.

Wade is saying right now that Barber will rest Wednesday, but they're hopeful because it's already quite a bit better than it was after the game and Marion really wants to play, going back to Minnesota.

Also says Choice did *not* have a concussion and is fine. So that's a relief.
