At some point you have to.
Shoot...Philly's made a living the past decade of depending on unproven guys. What's the alternative?
All we really want from Austin is for him to step up and be the third WR....be a deep threat.
And even though he had one catch in three of four remember, we had TO, Witten, Crayton, RW, and even Bennett as reliable options. Austin was the fourth option...still recovering from an injury he suffered in the second game vs Washington.
I think we'll be ok with our passing game. Austin has improved a little each year. He has to prove he can stay healthy. That's my biggest question for him.
Come on Biz, mi amigo. They have people who can actually pick players.
Or inversely, we have Jerry.
I think Austin's injury history is something to consider. But I do not think he is injury prone. Not yet, anyway.
What I do think is that this offense is heading into uncharted waters. We are going to see how much T.O. had to do with Tony's success.
Some want to argue T.O.s skills were diminishing. Statistically that is true.
But defensive coordinators still had to account for him on every play. Because a 200-yard game like the one against San Fran was still possible.
And that respect filtered down to guys like Austin who could use the single coverage to make plays.
Well, do we have someone to demand that type of respect?
I don't know. But if we don't, does this now make Austin a ghost from the type of coverage he will see?
This could be a great season. But there are a lot of questions that have answers that are betting on the come line for me. Jerry is gambling again. And he can do that because he won't fire him.
I am worried.
