All this being said, it'll have little impact on game.
Our offense should score at least 21 points, "Ravens Defense" or no "Ravens Defense". We could do 21, at home, against anyone.
Ray Lewis, who I defended in this thread, has no impact, effect, or doings with how hot our defense is right now.
Our defense, as we speak, is a monster and the best defense in the league. I don't care about the first 11 games. Stats mean little. Right now, when it counts, this defense is the best defense in the league.
Texas Stadium. At home. Our defense given the "green light" to tee off......FINALLY!!
I don't see the Ravens offense scoring more than 7 to 10 points. No way. Won't happen. So, if we can't come up with 11 points, then shame on us.
The Ravens defense has NOTHING over the Steelers defense or the Giants defense. No matter what they say. We scored 13 on the Steelers and 20 on the Giants. We'll get at least 17 against the Ravens.
Their offense, in which Ray Lewis DOES NOT PLAY, is average at best, and lining up against what appears to be a beast. A "beast" at the right time in a season when it counts.
This game is a "no problem" win.
The Eagle game? Check with me next week..............

Games with Rating within 20 points of season rating

Romo (98.3) 1 up/2 down/8 within range of 20 points

Pro Bowl QB's
Brees (93.9) 5 up/6 down/3 within range
Warner (97.5) 3 up/4 down/7 within range
Eli (86.4) 3 up/3 down/8 within range

So Romo's had 3 games out of 11 starts when his rating was way up or way down. The other 8 games have been more consistent with his season rating.

This year's 3 Pro Bowl quarterbacks in the NFC have all been less consistent than Romo. And all three are lower-rated passers than Romo.

The Ravens look like a carbon copy of the Steelers. If Romo can avoid playing like an idiot, we will dominate them. Flacco has played pretty poorly against good teams.

Ray Lewis on Tony Romo: "He's up and down"

http://cowboysblog.***BANNED-URL***/assets_c/2008/12/raylewis-thumb-250x196-30313.jpgRavens middle linebacker Ray Lewis is a certain Hall of Famer. He will make his lone appearance in Texas Stadium on Saturday.

Lewis was asked about his impressions of Tony Romo.

"Tony Romo, he's an up-and-down quarterback," Lewis told reporters in Baltimore. "You can see him... Sometimes he can get blazing hot. He can make the same throws off back foots and the same throws throwing sideways. And then sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes he makes those same throws and they're huge mistakes."

Pressure is the key to stopping Romo. The Ravens have one of the better defenses in the NFL and expect them to attack Romo in the passing game.

"I think the thing you can't do is just sit back there and let him be comfortable, because Dallas, of course, has a lot of weapons on the offensive side of the ball, as well as defensive side of the ball," Lewis said. "But, you read about T.O. [Terrell Owens], or [Marion] Barber, or [Jason] Witten, all these guys. He has a lot of playmakers on his side of the ball, so to let him sit back there and pick and choose, I think that's where he's most successful. People that have had success against him have really made him not sit back there comfortable."

I rarely ever watch the Ravens if ever, I would really like to see Ray Lewis shut the hell up. He isn't what maks that dfense go anymore. Here's hoping Romo and company light that defense up.

Tony Romo should have made the Pro Bowl, but hey, there is another bowl to be had.

The Dallas Cowboys are 27-13 with Tony Romo playing quarterback. One of those losses was in 2006 at Washington. He was great in that game and deserved to win.

Romo has started 40 games, and the Cowboys have won 67.5% or 68% of those games.

That % is over two thirds.

Up and down quarterbacks don't win 2/3 of their games.

This year the Cowboys are 8-3 when Romo starts. That is a winning % of 72.7% or 73%.

Last year the Cowboys were 13-4 when Romo started. That is a winning % of 76.4%.

He sure hasn't been up and down. Romo has been a big time winner.

Tony Romo is one of the very best players in the NFL, and I wouldn't trade him for any quarterback.

Soon, Ray Lewis will see this up close and in real time.

Oh yeah, someone tell Ray that he better play a deep cover 2 shell, because his corners will not hold up.

I have them as 6-4, 13-3 and 8-3 with him for 27-10 in the regular season, 27-12 overall including playoffs but your point is a good win, he is maligned something fierce but he wins.

Patrick Crayton has said things 10 times as incindiary.

So has Ray Lewis.

People bag on Crayton because he had a key drop, and because they feel free to dump on Cowboys players when they're not stars. There's no good reason for it, but it won't be helped.

Lewis's comments are pointless and obvious. I'm curious, though, where teams get the idea that it's better to pressure Romo. Other than the obvious fact that all QBs need pressure, Romo plays better than most under duress b/c he's got great vision and can often make at least one pass rusher miss. He throws off balance from any position and has a very quick release. Romo's worst games tend to just happen every now and then, regardless of pressure, when he's careless with the ball and just out of rhythm.

Either way, I don't think Baltimore's prepared for what he's going to do to their rush on Saturday.

Uh yeah......

Asked Mendenhall if Ray Ray is washed up... Better yet , ask his shoulder.

Hope Choice doesn't run scared or timid. If he does , he will join Mendenhall on IR.

Hey, I'm worried, too. I hope we don't relax a little after a big division win, because these guys' defense is just as good.

I believe it is actually better than Pittsburgh's, especially in the secondary. They are extremely well coached and all players, even the backups they are using now, play the ball extremely well and are very opportunistic. Romo will need to have a mistake-free game, which for a player of his nature is very hard.

If you listen closely to the linemen and Wade Phillips' comments, I believe they realize that too. Pittsburgh is a simple smash mouth defense. They line up and dare you to beat them one on one. The Ravens are a little more covert in the things they do. Their blitz schemes are a lot more complex and as our players and coaches said, they send any and everyone so we need to be prepared for more.

From our defensive perspective, it is fairly straight-forward. Stop the run first. Our rush will have its hands full with a tough OL that kept Pittsburgh off Flacco for the most part.

If telling the truth and making an honest observation is pointless and obvious, you are correct.

Ask the Cardinals how their idea to pressure Romo worked out. They generated turnovers by creating confusion with our line with stunts. And it is proven that Romo is not always Houdini under duress as he will make reckless throws occasionally and will fumble the football. Interior pressure, like with most quarterbacks, causes him problems. He can't be allowed to step up in the pocket. Pure edge rushing is a bit easier for him to handle because of his mobility.

Correct me if I am wrong but..... we played the best defenses already... the GiANTs and the STEALers, no?

The Ravens are right there. This is a game about matchups not just statistical rankings. The Ravens have a solid matchup with us. Ngata should give Gurode and Proctologist all they can handle. Their secondary is capable of making plays off errant throws. Romo's back worries me if he cannot put everything into his passes.

Ray is right that Romo is up and down and that is obvious. Just as obvious as most NFL QBs in the game has good and bad days.

So concerning Ray...

Quote the Ray Ray never more.

About the Ravens. It is the run game we have to stop and force the ravens to start throwing. As some have noted they are not really forcing their Rook QB to do much throwing per game and they rely on their running game and defense.

So we stop the run then we get after the QB. Not much chance of getting many sacks if they continue to run the ball.

As Alexander has pointed out. Their Secondary, esp reed, seems to be at the right place at the right time. We seen what the steelers did when they pressured romo and their secondary made the best of the chances they were given. I see the Ravens that way as well. You screw up some passes and Reed will have a chance to take it the distance.

This is by no means an easy game and just because we played the Giants and Steelers D does not mean that the Ravens are subpar in what they can do to us.

I think the difference here is that the Steelers were not healthy in their running game nor was the Giants. I take it the ravens will be.

Well he's telling the truth... Romo is a streaky QB, when it's going really well then he's a top 5 QB but when it's bad he'll look almost like a bottom 5 QB.

They also run that unbalanced line formation the Rams ran against us with success. I certainly hope we have noticed and can do better against it this time. I believe their backup tackle Adam Terry is who they run behind, who is a significant upgrade from that Goldberg fellow that made us look so bad in that game.

If I am guessing correctly, the Ravens will probably concentrate on two of our losses because they fit what they do well (Rams, Cardinals). The thing about their defense is that they can give four and five man looks just like Pendergast gave us that cause confusion in the Cardinals game. Offensively, they have the above.

I hope Romo realizes that he no longer has to carry this team on his shoulders. We finally have a defense that is playing great that can definitely help carry some of the load. I think part of the problem before the last few months was that Romo felt like he had to carry the whole team and the defense wouldn't bail him out if he made mistakes. I'm much happier that our defense is playing great so now all Romo has to do is NOT make any stupid mistakes and we win. Hope that made sense. All jmho.

Up and down quarterbacks don't win 2/3 of their games.
There is one serious perception issue about Romo. He's probably the most consistent good QB in the league. In the follwing list, games with a rating below 80 ("down" games) appear in red. "Up" games (120 or above) in green. The less color you see, the more consistent the quarterback.

E Manning (86.4) 61.1 131.4 88.2 136.6 57.1 77.5 87.9 95.8 81.5 73.3 127.3 88.5 73.5 43.9

Eli has had six sub-80 games, three 120+ games, and five in between

Brees (93.9) 124.9 69.8 110.2 116.7 68.2 144.4 61.0 121.9 66.9 88.4 157.5 60.2 99.7 67.2
Brees has had six sub-70 games, four 120+ games, and four in between.

Warner (97.5) 93.3 158.3 81.5 84.8 107.3 104.3 99.1 121.1 121.9 98.2 79.9 65.7 95.4 78.9
Warner has had 3 sub-80 games, 3 120+ games and 8 games in between. This makes him the most consistent NFC QB among those selected for the Pro Bowl this season.

P Manning (90.3) 81.8 72.6 59.0 101.0 134.7 46.6 73.5 121.9 95.8 99.9 92.5 46.8 134.0 110.0
Peyton has had 3 "up" games, 5 "down" games, and 6 games in between.

Favre (86.5) 125.9 85.6 92.5 123.7 73.9 47.8 76.0 73.7 117.7 119.4 103.6 60.9 60.8 71.4
Favre has had 2 up games, 7 down games, and 5 in between.

Cutler (88.2) 137.5 109.6 93.3 71.9 96.1 77.8 64.3 60.7 107.9 106.4 49.8 94.8 102.7 74.3
Cutler has had 1 up game, 6 down games, and 7 in between

Take your pick of Manning and Cutler as to which has been more consistent. Neither one compares to Romo...

Romo (98.3) 103.6 123.2 82.6 90.7 106.2 116.2 72.8 113.3 113.7 44.9 113.7
Romo has had 1 up game, 2 down games, and 8 in between.

Of the six Pro Bowl QB's, only one (Warner) has been nearly as consistent as Romo, with 8 games with a rating between 80 and 120. And Warner has three more starts than Romo!

Every one of the six Pro Bowl QB's has been more up-and-down than Romo this year. And every single one of them has a season rating lower than Romo's. So if you think Romo is up-and-down, what does that say about the rest of the league?
