Not a hint of jealousy or bitterness. Well done.

The Boston Red Sox called. They wanted me to tell you, "Good job"! They also wanted me to pass along, "Don't stroke out or you might kill yourself over the stress!", but I said to myself, "He's certainly entitled to his feelings". So, go for broke, fella! :D

It's just very odd on what it feels like to be a Yankees fan. I mean this makes title #27. I'm a Phillies fan and haven't even seen them win a playoff game until last year.

I feel like the feeling is greater having waited 20 years than it is 9. Especially for a team that doesn't have a payroll that could probably feed sub-Saharan Africa for a year.

How do you know what it feels like to be a Yankee fan??

Yeah, sure. Just like its better to wait longer for Cowboys SB win. Yes I would definitely like to wait 20 years instead of right now.

The Yankees payroll is 200 million+. There are about 8 teams over 100 million+, including the Phillies. Is it that big of a deal for winners... I mean whiners?

While pitching is a big part of it. You must not have watched the playoffs.
Your opinion is your own and greatly appreciated by some I am sure.

AROD more than once hit homeruns to tie a game or to go ahead in a game.

Matsui drove in 6 of the 7 runs.
Teixeira gold glove saved the day more than once.
Jeter and all he does - hit safely in 14 of 15 games in playoffs and the intangibles.
Damon and his heads up play and stubborn at bats.

It was MORE than pitching. This team gelled and it showed.

I've seen professional baseball teams win when 3/4 of the team didn't even know some starters' names due to call ups or trades.

The sense of comraderie makes a great storyline but it's really a bunch of bullpuckey.

It's slightly different with football because that sport relies on more if/then scenarios where players must be on the same page.

I say the exact same thing to Habs fans lol.

I'm not jealous, Phillies won their title last year, went to the World Series again this year (trouncing the Dodgers in the process :D), I'd say it's pretty good for me.

But yes, it is a big deal for me. Because here's what happens: Teams never get to keep their superstar and loved players because by the time free agency rolls around, the Yankees always have more money to spend and just take them away from us.

I'm raising hell if the Yankees ever get a hold of Utley. That will be the end of it, lol.

It's kind of hard for me to sympathize with Phillies fans who harbor any resentment over the Yankees' payroll. Philadelphia came within two wins of their second straight World Series title.

Is the margin between New York and Philly so great that it always boils down to how much both teams are doling out? Last season, the Yankees spent over 100 million more than the Phillies and missed the playoffs. This season, New York spent less than 100 million more and eventually won.

Perhaps Philadelphia should worry moreso about spending a little more (they do not have to double their payroll in doing so) of their payroll on their pitching rotation; and less about New York spending an additional $8 million more in payroll this season over last season. Maybe the Phillies should consider spending more money on the right 37+ "old goat" pitcher next time. It might prove more valuable (please excuse the pun).
