DMN Blog: Stephen McGee progress report

Mcgee is going to be better than Romo in two years and take the Cowboys to the promise land in three!

OMG!!!!!

There is no telling how good McGee can become right now he is not ready to become the starting QB a few season down the line who knows.

Right now I'm just glad to see the Cowboys with a young QB who will get the time to develop and should the time come when he gets his opportunity he will be prepaid.

Tony himself was in a situation where he was the bottom of the depth chart and worked hard so when the time came to get his opportunity he was able to make the most of it.

I'm anxious to see him play, it'll be my first time....

I've seen him play a ton and never once did I know that he was a better passer than a runner.

A&M completely mis-used him. Just like they did with MartyB.

I was surprised at the limited number of snaps he was given while I visited camp. Carpenter even had more snaps. Perhaps they're trying to bring him along very slowly.

I agree. He wasn't with the QBs for most of the drills during practice. I'm not sure where he went.

Is there something in the water today?

Why 4 years? Contract purposes? Just plain options? Trade bait? Or ready to replace Romo?

No trade. We need to start grooming QB's.

he's got great potential.

of course, so did Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, and Drew Henson... but you don't hit oil unless you keep digging.

He had more ability then all of them. If he could've just stayed away from the drugs..Geez!!!

I like the fact that he isn't forcing anything, stay away from bad habits, keep checking down, keep holding on to the ball instead of forcing it. Down the road if he ever amounts to anything that patience will help him.

1) You'll never make plays like that.
2) You'll take alot of sacks for negative yards.

With a great defense you don't need to make a lot of plays, in fact its preferred that you don't try and make too many big plays.

Sorry but I want my starting QB to make plays.

Ahh, who is coaching this? You're kidding, right? C'mon man!!! Big plays are points or lead to points, you want as many of those as possible...

I actually think Henson was far and away the most talented of that bunch. He simply couldn't overcome the time off - Q on the other hand I think could have been a guy who stayed in the league a long time but more as a backup or the #1 guy you are always looking to replace.

I think the big problem for guys like Carter and Hutchinson is they were nowhere near ready to take on the job of starting QB. Aikman did but Troy was such a perfectionist and expected more out of himself than what his critics expected. I think it a bad move in many cases of putting a QB out who is just not ready for what he will be facing as an NFL QB

So the blogger thinks McGee has potential?

That's good enough for me!
:lmao2: me too

30-yard line drive on a seam route
That is the best and most difficult play to defend in the NFL imo. I hope we run it over and over again...especially with Witten and Bennett.

I knew how good he was but Franchoie was a moron you realize McGee was one of the top Texas Highschool QB's to ever play and Franchoine turned him into a running back :bang2::bang2:. Then again that same staff wasted all the talent of Bennet as well.
