Yeah, because he was never around!

But I guess someone like you sees 'consultant' and figures they're all the same.

That's your problem.

Not at Burger King maybe.

But a man of Reeves' stature and accomplishments deserved better than to be insulted like that.

TO talks? Wow, been a little quiet lately.

Personally I think that Ray is using Dallas as bargaining material. He doesn't want to leave Baltimore. He just wants as much coin as possible from them.

I think Ray wants to come to Dallas. Dallas enjoys one HUGE advantage when it comes to paying players....no state income tax. When you are making millions, that can amount to a nice chunk of change. For instance...we will give you 5 million to play here or you can get 5 million to play there....however you pay not state income tax here and you pay a lot there. Instant win.

Paying someone a million dollars or more who was not going to put the time into the job.

so Dan Reeves was going to pull the wool over Jerry Jones' eyes

are you listening to yourself?

so far we have from you:

Dan is pompous

will collect a paycheck, but won't work for it

the lengths some of you go to to defend Jerry is astounding

Apparently not, no.

Not a whole lot of rational thought going on here.

Especially when the guy with the Super Bowl credentials walks out the door and these clowns see it as 'no problem, if he won't punch the clock, who needs him?'.

"why must I be surrounded by frickin' idiots!?!?"

You call it "defending Jerry" I call it recognizing good business sense

Can you guarantee 100% Dan Reeves would have spent every waking hour at Valley Ranch? No more grandkids or family life. No more ESPN schedule straight work all of the time?

I never said Dan is pompous and wouldnt earn his money, I said if he would then that stipulation shouldnt be a problem.

Listen to yourselves man you are proclaiming Dan frigging Reeves to be the greatest, a month ago or so you guys didnt even mention him now he is the end all be all? come on

You keep talking about the imaginary clock. The only thing that clause would have done was not pay him if he didnt work the hours. No set schedule.

it's good business sense when it comes to a totally, unknown person

and even Darlymple said that Jerry and Dan were friends

what Jerry did was just obnoxious, dilly-dallying

I can guarantee you that Dan would have worked any hours Jerry wanted him too

you said Dan was above agreeing to sign that part of his contract, that sounds like you're saying he's pompous to me

Dan is the type of guy that you don't need to protect yourself from, unless it's performance related because he hasn't really done anything of note in a while

but that wasn't the issue

I'm not proclaiming that he's the end all, but he's not Jerry and he definitely isnt' Wade Phillips

and he'd be helping both of them

he's a change, not some hopeless continuum

It was an assinine request to begin with.

You want to minimize Reeves' accomplishments, but I don't.

The man took four teams to the Super Bowl, accomplishments that are in short supply at Valley Ranch.

He's got great qualifications and would have helped a head coach in seriously over his head.

To screw-up that deal over an 'hours worked' clause is but the latest embarrassing thing that Jerry Jones has done or said and it's a slap in the face to a man with Dan Reeves' resume.

And I'm with many who feel that Jones threw that nonsense in last minute because he simply couldn't bear the thought of someone like Reeves cleaning up his mess and taking some of his precious credit.

Well rest assured Jerry, you're getting all the credit for the state of things.

well Crabtree won't be a Cowboy so that doesn't really matter. I'm interested in seeing Crabtree in the pros cause a lot of people are hyping him up to be in the top tier of wrs and I'm not seeing that. I think he will be good but not Randy Moss/Larry/Calvin good.

Lubbockite and Texas Tech fan here and I agree.

He'll be good but not great.

It absolutely is an insult to put an idiotic clause like that in the contract of a man of Reeves' stature.

If Reeves had never seen such a thing before, how is it 'every contract'?

Oh, wait he's lying, right?

If you think Reeves' role would have been the same as the token role that Warfield had, that's on you. And you're alone in that little boat if ya didn't know.

There's a reason why Jerry's a billionare and you're just posting away frantically. All this stature and crap means nothing it needs to be in writing. I'm pretty sure this could of been done with a hand shake. No contract even needed. I guess thats what you wanted Jones to do. Shake hands with Reeves and take the man on his word and honor....those days are over.
