DMN: BLOG: Tashard Choice: 'This year is to let them know I'm for real'

Is it just me or is anyone else tired of the cuteness so called writers put in their articles so that everyone reading knows how they feel about a particular person or subject? It never ends... yes you hate TO, yes you hate Jerry, yes you hate Wade, whatever your agenda is. Give it a rest already.

It's not just you.

Timmy Mac is trying to follow in the footsteps of other smart-a's in this town like Mosley and even JFE. It's like they're all more worried about impressing each other with how cute and snarky they can be at happy hour than they are about their readers.

We couldcall them, "game", "set", and "match"!

Choice should be the starter/workhorse ..... Felix the weapon/bigplay ..... and Barber the knockout punch/closer.

Time for Garrett to earn his money in getting all three of them the ball + Roy/Witt/Martel the catches they need to be successful.

Garrett has 6 major weapons to feed on Offense.

Witten
Roy
Martel
Felix
Choice
Barber

Looks like a nice problem to have.

And if he cannot do it (and I do not doubt he will) Then time to get the next offensive genius in here (along with a new head coach)

Some on here will bash me for this, but I think we should trade one of Choice/Barber if a high pick could be gotten for them. I really think Choice is the real deal, so I would personally trade Barber, the older of the two, if I could get enough in return. I don't really know what his cap hit would be, so I'm not sure how realistic that option would be. There is no way Jerry's going to be able to pay three top backs, so one of them will end up leaving eventually anyways. Fire away!

why?

the shelf life on RBs is really low and we are blessed to have 3 keepers, by the time, maybe sooner, barber's contract is up he will likely be done, and then we have two guys in the fold ready to take over for him.

no reason to hand over players in their prime for some unknown commodity.

not to mention if choice or felix turn out to be great they will cost more to sign than barber already did.

I said nothing demoralizing. I just made the point that saying it and doing it are two different things. Ask Patrick Watkins. He made all kinds of bold statements because he felt that he disrespected since he slipped to the 5th round and that he was going to prove everyone wrong. Thus far, he has proved nothing of the sort.

he proved me wrong, I thought he was gonna be pretty good.

He proved Parcells could make mistakes on more than just offensive linemen! :laugh2:

I like Choice, but what exactly has everyone believing he should get more carries than Barber?

His late season heroics were nice, but were they spectacular enough that you would suddenly relegate him to primary status in terms of carries? I don't think so.

 your so smug. Just like you idol Simon Cowell

I think you are being a little unfair to Watkins.

His comments echo every kid who went to a major school and was touted as a top pick who tumbled to the middle rounds.

IMO, he was never the same after that first Philadelphia game in his rookie season. He was absolutely crushed and never really recovered. And as Coach Parcells pointed out from day one, he's had some fundamental things he has never corrected (his tackling style for one).

What's important is that he hasn't said much since he's been a professional and hasn't had to backup much of what he has said unless you have a long memory and want to hold him to comments made before he played a down in the NFL. I wish some of our higher profile players would take the same route and keep quiet when they haven't done so well.

Considering who his heroiocs were against, I'd say yes, he should get relegated to primary status. I always believed the "Barber as workhorse" deal was a mistake. A guy whose never been "the guy" can't suddenly become it on the highest level of competition. Or let's say that it's rare. I also don't think it's a coincidence that we started to see Barber put the ball on the ground again.

But as I said, Choice performed late in the year extremely well against the top run defenses in the league. He's also a better, natural runner than Barber. Not taking anything from Barber, but Choice is just better, IMO.

I'd like to see Barber go back to the closer role... Even tho Jerry paid Barber to be the starter.. I see Choice as the better back.. Just one mans opinion..

I agree.

i hear you bro, but hey let them talk, and get benched, i love to hear confidence....

look at newman

"imma come out ballin!" and what did he do vs the skins? came out ballin! and more!

so not all talk is bad, i notice people on this board love to stick it to a guy when he talks big and doesn't have that great of a game, but when he does, hes the best!

lets just be happy were not a team that hangs our head down, and sits around doubting ourselves

It's hard to talk **** when you're sucking *** unless your name is DeAngelo Hall.

Easy answer. Barber had a down year and Choice is the backup.

Choice is getting the love that Barber used to get when Julius was the starter or that Troy Hambirck got when Emmitt was in his last year.

Its human nature amongst fans.

That's not to say that Choice doesn't have some ability. He does. And maybe he will and should overtake Barber. But nevertheless, his backup status fuels the fire.

I guess I'm in the minority, because I didn't pull for Hambrick over Emmitt, and I didn't pull for Barber over Julius.

IMO, however, Choice is without question, the most complete back on this club.

I totally get your point, and we really are in a no lose situation when it comes to RB's, IMO. But one point you mentioned I also mentioned, and that is that Jerry really can't afford to pay everyone if Choice and/or Barber are as good as some of us think they are. I don't know...I would hate to get rid of any one of the three. But at the same time, I sure would hate to lose one for nothing in return because Jerry couldn't afford to pay them all.

When that day comes they will let Barber be the one to walk. We have what 2-3 more years with the rookie contracts?

Hey, give me a running back that can

1. Hold onto the ball.
2. Get everything he can out of a run.
3. Put the ball in the end zone.
4. Not trip over hash marks and yard markers.

Barber, F. Jones, and Choice have shown that they fit the mold.

J. Jones and Troy Hambrick is just another story.
