Romo “Hmm, 3rd down and 8...i can go to my sure handed Pro Bowl TE and BFF Witten who runs crisp sharp routes and can always find the holes in the zone or ... MartyB aka JupitersCrunch, Twitter Extraordinaire who is lazy in practice and has hands of stone...hmm.”

When Brad Sham has something negative to say about you...something is wrong.

Makes me wonder, just thinking out loud, if there is a difference in the way Romo goes through reads vs. Kitna.

One of the analysts, forgot which, was saying Romo threw to space - meaning he anticipated the WR coming open and threw to where the receiver is expected to be. Obviously that depends on having really good route runners.

The knock on Roy when he got here was sloppy route running, and I don't need to be a scout to see that Bennet needs work in that area (see superpunk's post above). Coincidentally, neither seem to get the ball from Romo as often as we think they should, and often when we do the pass looks 'inaccurate'.

Conversely Kitna seemed to have worked great with Bennett in preseason and obviously with Roy in Detroit. Maybe he tends to wait the extra second for the receiver to actually get to the spot? (which of course might lead to other problems like sacks and picks). That would put less emphasis on an extremely crisp route.

Just a thought.

Um, no. Kitna threw more to Bennett during the preseason because he played more with Bennett and didn't play with Witten. If Kitna had Witten and Bennett on the field at the same time, he'd throw three times as many to Witten, too. And if Romo didn't have Witten, he'd throw more to Bennett.

LOL.... obvious, but I never even thought of that.

Granted, but you yourself pointed out Romo's abysmal completion rate with Bennett. I'm assuming Kitna's was better to catch that many balls in limited preseason time, plus it helps explain Romo's difficulties with Roy.

I just have this feeling that with Bennett's combination of talent AND immaturity vs. Jason Witten's dependability and bond with QB1, that Bennett will be traded. Not now, but in the near future. Too talented to not be a bigger factor.

I'd feel a little more compassion for Bennett if he'd spend less time on Twitter and more time memorizing the playbook.

Roy's long strides make it appear as if he's running slower than he is, which is why QBs have thrown behind him a lot. Gotta work on the timing.
that excuse is old. they had a whole offseason to work that out.

During the preseason, Bennett caught 2 of 3 from Romo and 10 of 12 from Kitna.

And what does it have to do with Roy?

Just tying to make a hypothesis based on what we know about their supposed route running abilities. Because I really don't know why Roy isn't getting the ball more than he is, and Bennett isn't as much as we thought.

I freely admit I'm just throwing this out there for discussion, nothing to back it up.

For some odd reason he thinks he has a 9-5 job. So when he's making videos or posting senseless garbage on the internet, that is his time (according to some of his comments).

he should ditch Twitter and play golf instead, go to concerts with his bestfriend, snag himself a celebrity girlfriend and maybe take a trip to Cabo instead that way people can get off his back about what he does away from the practice/playing field.

Right. He should have a jugs machine in his backyard so he can catch passes all night long. He should also set it to throw the ball low and away because that's how Romo likes to throw the fade.

Unfortunately for us, he has free will and is 22.

We need to go fix that.

Before I was slightly amused by MartyB but now he's just starting to irritate me, on and off the field.

The reason Bennett hasn't produced isn't because Romo hasn't thrown to him, it's because he hasn't caught most of the passes thrown to him. Romo has thrown 11 passes to Bennett. He has caught just four of them. By comparison, Witten has been targeted 33 times and has caught 28 of them.

The problem with those statistics is that it doesn't take into consideration how many of those balls were catchable.

The bottom line is that if you are a Quarterback, are you more likely to throw the ball to a proven Pro Bowl Tight End, who has developed a near legendary reputation for always being open or the loud mouth rookie, who i'm told even Brad Sham called out for not knowing the playbook and how to line up properly.

Until Romo sees that he's wide open in the endzone.

Then again, Romo hesitates to throw anything if the player isn't wearing #82.

Using preseason stats to make your case isn't going to fly.
