The reason Bennett hasn't produced isn't because Romo hasn't thrown to him, it's because he hasn't caught most of the passes thrown to him. Romo has thrown 11 passes to Bennett. He has caught just four of them. By comparison, Witten has been targeted 33 times and has caught 28 of them.
Exactly. (Thanks for the stats) Some of the drops by MartyB like last weekend for example bounced off his chest. :(

what I don't get is the Romo to Roy connection. it's not like Miles Austin was wide open on any of those passes Tony threw to him in KC. why can't he do that with Roy?
Because Romo and Miles Austin have longer history together since both of them joined the team. I am not surprised Romo will trust Austin more in some opportunities.

We should just trade this joker, while he still has some value. Sure wish we would have kept Fasano. What a boneheaded, out smart myself, GM move by guess who? :storm:

Dont get me wrong, I like RW...But RW is doing what he does best...good posession receiver, good blocking skills and most of the times good hands...nothin has changed since the Longhorn days..he always has been and will always be a possesion reciever...there is nothing wrong with that...he is playing his role..and doing what he is best at...just like his time at Texas, then Detriot and now Dallas..he is good at what he does...moves the sticks........

The problem is that we gave up quite a bit of draft picks and paid alot of money to acquire his skills.

Personally, I think he has the ability to be more than a possession receiver but thus far, hasn't been worth the price tag and draft picks.

Marty has to grow up off and on the field: when he does, he'll be a factor. Just an overrated tease right now.

this is what I think is goin on here.

somebody posted a pic from a pre-game warm up where the entire team is doing their stretches while Marty B is dancing!!!!

Im sure Romo and Garrett notice this and therefore don't trust him since everyone is getting ready and he is goofing off.

I agree with you...Jerry also over-paid for Joey Galloway....But if you follow the Longhorns...as I do.. it is obvious from all angles what RW brings to the table...,,,Jerry does what he always does with players...Gambles...takes risk...maybe if the TO and RW experiment worked out it would of been worth the money... in this case I just think to many bad apples spoiled the pie....not TO and RW together but with Tank Johnson and the issues with PACMAN...just overloaded the situation...

I think we have seen all that Fasano had to offer. On the other hand Bennett's future is ahead of him.

Yeah, catching 4 of the 11 passes thrown to him in 5 games.

What exactly is standing out to you over what Fasano did here?

Tony threw him a fade in the end zone.

As part of his route, Martellus decided he would do a spin move.

Yeah, I would be hesitant about even looking his way after that, too.

Hating on the patented spin move?

Works all the time in the NBA.

Makes on wonder what the true cause is.

Is it the level of competition? Is Bennett not getting open like he did against second-stringers?

Is it the fact that he's one the field with Witten more and Witten is getting open more rgularly?

Is it Romo? Does he not trust Bennett (similar to how he never trusted Fasano)?

Regardless of the true reason, I think this is something that needs to change. Romo and the offense need to get Bennett more involved so that opposing defenses respect the threat of having him out there. Otherwise I feel it's advantage defense.

...well for one Romo has a curious tendency to go tunnel vision and force the big play especially when things are'nt going well...Romo does'nt play the patience game well...not like a Peyton Manning...he'll pay lip service to taking what the defense gives him but in a game situation he will risk the longer route when a shorter one would be less rewarding but safer...

...take the 3rd and 14 blitz/fumble at Denver when he held the ball while Bennett had drifted to his left into the flat, ready for the dump off after having recognized the blitz coming...he even looks back at Romo and seems to be telling him something pre-snap...now he either did'nt see him over the lineman or he was never looking for him to begin with...the former is understandable, the latter is playing lazy and throwing to a predetermined receiver regardless of what the defense is showing you...he missed Austin twice and chose to go to Hurd [twice] instead in the final drive, targeting Bailey no less...

...i just get the feeling that he is'nt seeing the whole field at times...

Fasano wasn't exactly a pass catching machine, and he isn't half the blocker Bennett is right now much less what he could be.

Yeah I can't figure out if Garrett is just overwhelmed and awful at play-calling, or if we really just can't protect and have needed Marty to block.

I am guessing that Garrett has no idea how to use all of our weapons to our advantage.

Luckily, the GM is able to access things like this properly and make decisions accordingly so that we are using all of our talent at full capacity. Our GM has many, many years of experience so we're in good hands, guys.

You and me both. Not sure its a coincidence that Bennet and Williams play on the same side the majority of the time, Romo's blindside whereas Crayton and Witten are playing in easy sight.

Replace Crayton with Austin when thinking about the last game.

ya think? Especially when we have the NFL's best TE starting in front of him.

Witten is money in the bank.
