Owens had a career year last year.

The problem with this team is that they have given up on the head coach.

This is a mental thing.

Maybe putting in Garrett as HC will change the mentality of this team.

If you leave Wade in we are done anyway.

If Garrett does not show anything this year ..... you hire a new coach this off season.

Personally I think Garrett (like Jimmy Johnson) will be a better head coach than he is a coordinator.

when was Jimmy a coord?

As we know....you can be a great OC and a terriable HC.

You can have problems being a OC....and maybe make a better HC.....who knows...right?

If Wade is fired...then Garrett has to be the HC.

Lets see....can we hope that Garrett gets the HC job and we demote Phillips to DC and move Stewart back to DB coach and get rid of Campo?

IMHO that would be a my biggest hope....nothing against Campo but Im never was a believer in his coaching...too passive for my liking.

Phillips as DC would be good IMHO.....I know this is basically his defense but Stewart does have input and probally creates the gameplan....and Philips is proven to be a great DC.....

I know...with Phillips loyalty...this scenerio would never happen but...I can dream.

Superstar columnist Tim Cowlishaw believes Jerry Jones should pull the trigger pronto, but Wade Phillips will be the Cowboys coach for at least one more game unless the owner changes his mind.
Before you call to can the head coach, you have to ask one question: Would the Cowboys really be better off with Wade out of the picture?

The Rams' season has taken a turn for the better since interim coach Jim Haslett took over, but the Cowboys don't have a coach on staff with Haslett's qualifications to be a head coach. Haslett was slightly below .500 during his six-season stint in New Orleans, but he led the Saints to the only playoff win in franchise history.

DB coach Dave Campo is the only Dallas assistant with head coaching experience, but a few 5-11 seasons as Jerry's puppet would hardly inspire confidence in Cowboys land.

Jason Garrett, the highest paid assistant coach in NFL history, would get the gig. He turned down offers from the Falcons and Ravens, but he certainly hasn't done anything this season to show that he's ready to run an NFL team.

Garrett is having a hard time figuring out how to get the ball in the hands of his best weapon, and he managed to go a whole game without giving the ball to a healthy Felix Jones, then came up with a rationalization afterward. If he's struggling as an offensive coordinator, it seems like a stretch to think he'll make a seamless transition to head coach.

But Jerry might be forced to make a move, especially if the Cowboys lose their next two games (a likely scenario) and enter the bye week with a losing record. Dallas would be in Save Our Season mode at that point.

Maybe it makes sense to give Garrett a trial period for the last half of the season. If he can't right the ship, Jerry can make a run at Bill Cowher or another big-name coach this winter.

For now, Wade Phillips is still at the wheel, and the league's most talented team appears to be headed for a fiery crash.

I fully subscribe to this theory.

Get rid of Michelin Man and his little tag along Brian Stewart.
Promote Campo to DC.
Promote Garrett to HC for the rest of the season (trial period).
If Garrett fails miserably go hard at Cowher.

I'm on record as being a huge proponent for getting Cowher in here. I strongly believe he can right this ship. That said, if he ends up bringing in Cowher Jerry is going to have to take some of of that "hands off" medicine if he wants to see his beloved treasure succeed.

I would think it'd be Campo

I don't think Campo knows 3-4 and we can't switch to his 4-3 defense in the middle of the season unless we treat the next 4 weeks as training camp. We are stuck with wade through this season

And talk about becoming a REAL laughingstock.

BTW, I'll go on record as not being one bit shocked if this happened this year. Wade fired, Campo promoted to DC.

As ridiculous as it sounds, I think it could happen.

If that happens. What a crying shame. The guy shouldnt even be here and now he would get promoted.

that would just be icing on the cake.

the players on this team are missing the assitant coaches that ran this team last year. What sad day. 1.5 years and this team is right back to mediocrity and hoping for miracles and coaching changes to win games.

I knew I would be depressed this morning, but I didnt realize how much. What a bad 2 months this is going to be.

In college.

Do you think he was always a head coach on every level?

But you specifically stated that you think Garrett will be a better head coach than he is a coordinator like Jimmy, as if you had some knowledge to Jimmy's coordinator days. Jimmy's been a Coach in the pros/college game since '79 when he was head coach of OSU. Can you really recall back to Jimmy's coordinator days? No, you're just talking out of your backside.

Look ..... its mom trying to start a fight again.

I read Jimmy Johnson's book and he said he was always a mediocre coordinator and was able to talk his way at being a head coach because he is a great motivator.

Now wipe your backside ...... because I stated in the first post it was my opinion.

Well you tell me what you think would be the best course of action because, there's no doubt, action should be taken swiftly...

I know Campo is a 4-3 guy but any deadbeat can run the 3-4 better than Stewart. That is unless Stewart really has been nothing more than
buddy-on-demand.jpg

For Wade. If that's really the case we're in bigger trouble than ever.

Hell, get Capers. Get someone to come in and immediately begin to organize that cluster $#%%.

capers is in New england...How or why would he come here?

Why dont we just hire bill bellichick......geez.

I dont believe the guys on this defense respect any of the coaches. They just have to tolerate them.

Last year this team had coaches they loved and played hard for...

The secondary had todd bowles who newman, henry and williams loved and were willing to go out and play hard for. Even then the results were a mixed bag. Now we have campo and I dont think the players give one iota what he thinks. Putting him in a higher position would be cause for mutiny.

The linebackers had pasqualoni. Ware, bradie, burnett etc...they all loved pasqualoni and he had their respect. Now. Nothing. Those guys all look lost waiting for someone to snap them out of it.

The line, they all came in with kacy rodgers and parcells heavy hand on the defensive line. These guys came in and learned from glover and ferguson. In 2005 we had Glover, Ferguson, Coleman, canty, spears and ratliff. What a great group. Plus ellis was playing down on the nickel. and on the end for the most part until he lost playing time to spears.

I think that all adds up to bad results. Average talent, coupled with a lousy attitude, coupled with lesser coaches coupled with tank johnson and pacman jones being put on the team and becoming the voices of the team and then most importantly everyone answering to Jerry directly.

The season is tanked. The only things that can happen have to take place in the offseason.

I am 100% off of the Give Wade a Chance wagon but I am also 100% against this thought. 4-3 is tanked? We all said that we need to play our December style of play in September and our September / Oct play in december. Well, we got the first half of that out of the way. Lol. We got what we asked for.

Even though I feel that the season is defintely salvagable, I think it needs changes to make it happen. It is just obvious that the coaching staff is unable and the players are unwilling. I just hope we figure it out fast.

We are 6-6 in our last 12 games going back to last season. Thats pretty much the definition of tanking. Thats acceptable for mediocre teams, not us.

even if we were to "tank" the season, it wouldn't do us much good seeing as we don't have a 1st rounder next year to look forward to
