I remember reading about Butler after he was drafted and the knock on him were the following:

Tweener, relies on agility to avoid blockers as he has difficulty shedding them...Plus the typical concerns about the switch from DE to LB, particularly when it comes to coverage.

Perhaps it's that adjustment to LB in pass coverage, especially, that is limiting his reps...Although, could he be a lot worse than Spencer?

Thats exactly what it is. You put Butler out there and teams are going to isolate him and really exploit his inexperience. But there is only way to gain that experience and thats getting reps, hopefully he'll see the field a lot more during the Washington and Oakland games. He can be a really big part of our stretch run.

He shouldn't be starting over spencer but he should atleast be in there to give Demarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer some breathers. Victor Butler motor reminds me of Outside Linebacker from Texas, Kalen Thorton.

I agree. I would like to see him coming in as a pass rusher in 3rd down situations but not sure he is ready to take on every down type duties of contending with the run and pass.

I wonder, do anybody on this board remembers Kalen Thorton and the type of pass-rusher he was?

Spencer is playing good football, just can't get the QB on the ground... I still believe it will come.
Spencer's coming out party will be Sunday

Does anyone remember how bad TE's use to shred us with Ellis in coverage?

Maybe that's one of the reason why the Cowboys ain't get shreded this season.

I want to see where Curtis Johnson falls into this.

I also think Octavien can play some football as well.

We have some decent upside at that position when you think about what Brandon Williams may be able to add next season.

Curtis Johnson is just a ST player right now.

If he can't get a sack against this team, it's really a sad state of affairs.

Really. But how about Victor Butler gets three sacks in this game? Will he get more playing time?

Of course not. Because Spencer would still have more QB pressures. :D
