Tony Romo couldn't care less what Emmitt Smith says

Tony Romo's reaction to being ripped by seven-win-predicting Emmitt Smith: So what?

"People outside of this locker room, they don't affect this football team," Romo said. "We've really narrowed our focus. We don't have time to discuss what different people might be saying or talking about our team, because it really doesn't come out any way. It's about the game. It's about beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"This week, we'll be able to go out and hopefully improve and get better. All we can do is do that. Whatever people might say or might not say, that's for those people to talk about. But all we think about is the game and getting better today."

I considered this headline: "Wade Phillips and Tony Romo not on same page about Emmitt's comments," but I'll take it easy on the Cowboys as long as they're undefeated.

A completely different tone of voice from Romo...a year ago or so he would have totally gushed about past players, talked about lofty expectations, etc.

I like the comment about the Bucs. Good improvement from last year. I think we're in for a good season.

I don't get all animated about the Dallas press like some do. But I can say that if I were a player I wouldn't talk to Tim McMahon at all.

I couldn't be sicker of his "coachable Roy Williams" act, which of course he blames on Roy himself. Now this...

I don't know how to describe the part in bold. Acting like he has the goods on somebody? Like he's "going easy" when something else is called for? What a good samaritan you are Tim.

my gosh, why is everyone making a mountain out of a molehill? Emmitt predicted a 7 win season, and i really don't see the big deal in this.. he's gushed over the Cowboys the past few seasons when he was commentating and now, like the rest of us, he's probably had his heart ripped out ever December so he's trying to ease his expectations a bit.. i really don't see why this is a big deal at all and why it keeps being brought up.. get off of Emmitt's back already.. did the press go to the locker room and ask everyone what they thought when Emmitt was literally cheering for the Cowboys while he was an ESPN broadcaster? and Aikman has been a so called 'Cowboy hater' in his broadcasting for years now, yet the media and press haven't made a big deal out of it.. i've never seen people make such a big deal out of nothing.. let's give it a break..

It is true, Emmitt is an ex Cowboy he is not a current member is not in the locker room, practice field, team meeting or on the sidelines. He has his opinion that is all it is. Tony is right they have no control over what others say positive or negative all they have to concern themselves with is the next practice and the next game everything else will take care of itself

It does not really matter though what Wade's view of Emmitt comment are or Tony views of Emmitt comment. I don't see the need in Tony and Wade being on the same page of their personal views of what someone else said.

As far as I am concerned ...... Emmitt Smith has earned the right to say anything he wants.

I do not agree with him but he is more of a true Cowboy than any of us will ever be.

I agree on the other hand I doubt Jerry is going to invite him into Jerry's new owner box until he changes his tune. :laugh2:

:laugh2: It galls Emmitt that his legacy is that he'll never be loved like Irvin or respected like Aikman.

Exactly. Just because he was a former player, and a great one at that, doesn't mean he doesn't say stupid crap. As a matter of fact, he does on a fairly regular basis on just about all things including the Cowboys.
