Exactly. Just because he was a former player, and a great one at that, doesn't mean he doesn't say stupid crap. As a matter of fact, he does on a fairly regular basis on just about all things including the Cowboys.

If Emmitt had shown, at some point in his broadcasting career, that his credibility was better than his mastery of the English language, I would worry more about his opinions. As it is, he is still an outsider, someone who isn't in the huddle, the meetings or the practices so he is really talking out of his ***.

I appreciate what he brings to the table when talking about his playing days and relating it to the present, but his opinions rarely draw from that parallel.

I like Romo's approach and attitude toward this garbage and as for Tim McMahon I'm frankly not surprised. It's pretty clear how bad the pool for sports writers is when a guy this bad is still able to keep a job.

As far as I am concerned ...... Emmitt Smith has earned the right to say anything he wants.

I do not agree with him but he is more of a true Cowboy than any of us will ever be.

I wanna know when earning the right to say something became a free pass from criticism whenever you say something stupid.

Did I say that?

I simply said he had earned the right to speak his mind on the Cowboys.

Even if Romo/Current Cowboys did care what Emmitt had to say, it's not like anyone can understand him to begin with.

Well, we all have the right to speak our minds on the Cowboys. I don't think anyone is attempting to silence him. We're just calling him an idiot. :D

I do not believe everyone does.

If an ex player from another team calls out our boys I think all the venom we can conjure up should be thrown his way.

But some of our guys should be heard, respected, and then disagreed with if that is the case.

Guys like

Roger
Randy
Dorsett
Troy
Mike
Moose
Nate
Woody
and yes Emmitt

These guys are heart and soul Cowboys and have earned the right to speak about them without the fans attacking them.

Just disagree respectfully ...... like Roy W did.

Emmitt helped put 3 Super Bowl trophies into our trophy case. So he can say whatever he wants to. Players like Romo (hasn't won a play off game) Roy Williams (never been to the playoffs) Sam Turd (4th string WR) Shouldn't even comment on what Emmitt has to say. Only way to prove him wrong is sto produce on the field. Which Emmitt has already done. Emmitt has done things that they are striving for so they need to shut the hell up and get down to business and not comment about anything,

Well, the First Amendment already took care of that. Whether or not he's offering an informed opinion is another matter entirely.

First amendment doesn't cover everything. I mean I can't year fire in a movie theater =/.

Why do you act like Romo and Roy volunteered comments about Emmitt? They were asked a question and they gave a dignified answer. Roy's was laced with sarcasm, but it was dignified just the same. If you really have a problem with players talking about Emmitt, place the blame where it belongs - with those who keep asking the same dumb questions over and over.

You know what the nice thing about questions are?

did the press go to the locker room and ask everyone what they thought when Emmitt was literally cheering for the Cowboys while he was an ESPN broadcaster?

Very valid point.

Cowboys-Bills, MNF, 2007. After Dallas won on Folk's 53 yard FG, the cameras spotted Irvin celebrating wildly with Jerry in Jerry's suite.

I remember reading that Emmitt was equally jubilant while with the ESPN crew. Some "hater".

"This week, we'll be able to go out and hopefully improve and get better. All we can do is do that. Whatever people might say or might not say, that's for those people to talk about. But all we think about is the game and getting better today."
