we need pac man.....henry is circling the drain
Thankfully, Jerry Jones has looked beyond both Adam Jones and Anthony Henry by drafting Jenkins and Scandrick. Henry has only one real problem and that's his propensity for injury. On the other hand, Adam Jones has all the skills to be a solid #2 cornerback for this team, but must 1) escape Goodell's doghouse and 2) stay out of his doghouse should Goodell let him out.

While Henry's liability can limit his time on the field, it's a football-related liability which is a natural gamble for any football team. Should his liability bite him in the you-know-what in '08, we now have adequate cornerback depth (although unproven yet) to fill in for him.

Oh the other hand, nothing's ever going to be certain about Jones. First, he must get ON the field. Until that happens, he's a non-factor. However, should he be allowed to finally play again, it will be entirely on him to do the childishly simple task of staying out of Goodell's doghouse from that moment on while in a Cowboys' uniform.

So, sure, we 'need' Adam Jones. What team wouldn't want a solid cornerback as a starter or depth? But Jones has to prove to himself that he's 100% dependable on the field by being 100% dependable off the field. That's nowhere near being certainty yet and I for one am glad that Jerry Jones feels the same way.

The kid Scandrick is right. Henry turns 33 in 09; will be in last year of his contract & doubt we resign. So soon it will be Newman, a rehabbed Pacman Jones & 2 young developing CBs who eventually become our starters. Hopefully we don't have to examine that position again for at least 5-7 more years.

Same might be true as well at RB. Sure hope we attack the WR position that aggressively in 09 draft.
I have always thought you draft at least one corner and one offensive lineman EVERY year, keep the bottom of that roster churning. We didnt do that recently. I was extremely excited about the Scandrick pick because not only did we get a good player for great value, but Jerry and Wade didnt NOT draft him since we already drafted Jenkins. Same thing with the Choice pick

Same here... I think a few of us (I know Chief is one) feel that way about Jenkins...

For some reason, I just smell some Derek Ross in him... Hopefully we're wrong.
Derek Ross was talented. Just an idiot

My lord, I guess Breer is learning to become just as ridiculous as the rest of the Dallas area beat writers.

This minicamp practically means nothing. So Scandrick looked good. So Jenkins didn't look good. It has nothing to do on how well they will play this year and whether or not they will play this year.

And Breer doesn't say it will impact how they play this upcoming season.

He made note that Scandrick looked better in minicamp than Jenkins. That is all. People like to complain about the Dallas beat writers - and yeah - maybe they are garbage.... but I think if some developed thicker skin, the complaints would go down.

Because Breer didn't say or imply this minicamp had any bearing on how they'd play this season...

He certainly implied it by saying that you would think Scandrick was drafted ahead of Jenkins instead of the other way around, implying that a 5th round pick is better than a 1st round pick.

Has nothing to do with developing thicker skin, I just looked at the post and rolled my eyes. It's minicamp for cryin' out loud.

He openly stated that the 5th round pick looked better than the 1st round pick in this mini-camp. What he didn't IMPLY was that it would be the same way during training camp.

It may not be important how a player looks in rookie mini-camps, but we sure do all eat it up like crazy. If I was there, I'd certainly be trying to gauge who looked good and who didn't. Since we can't be there it's nice to have the reporters actually report who looks good and who doesn't.

He stated Scandrick looked better than Jenkins in minicamp.

I am going to guess he did since others have commented on it as well.

At no point, did he make any implications, guesses, or assumptions on how either would play heading into training camp, preseason, or the regular season. At. No. Point. All he did was comment on the minicamp thus far.
