100% untrue. Henry has played great for us at corner since he got here.
He didn't say anything about Henry's level of play. He said this is likely his last year here. That has nothing to do with how he has played. He's talking about the business aspect of this.

Man... it's great to hear that all the defensive rookies are playing well. Even if it is coming from a player. He's not raving about all of them though (51 must play sp. Teams to stick, 53 and 95 are WIP), so I hope he's accurate on the others.

I think that D. Davis is a real find. The guy is athletic, tough and has good football smarts. I hope he finds a way to stick. If I had to guess right now, I'd bet that he makes the 53.

Jenkins and Scandrik... well, we already know they've made the roster and they've looked like the real deal from the get-go.

Our scouting department is light years ahead of where they used to be.

Good times ahead! :)

Once through the roster, Marcus Smith 60 (R) looks to be the only defensive player not mentioned by Burnett.

If I remember correctly, he was there last year but was on IR because of a year ending knee (I think) injury.

If that's the case, then I suppose KB just didn't consider him a rookie.

EDIT: DC.com says that he was on the practice squad last season... but I do remember him hurting his leg at some point.

Doesn't shock me. I'm only shocked he made the PS last year. I watched him 4 years at UA and never considered him an NFL caliber player. He must be doing something right.

31 might be one of the best young corners in the league right now. If he can get on the field I see defensive rookie of the year for him easy.
That's quite an endorsement. If Jenkins is really that caliber of player, we've really hit the jackpot.

He's technically not a rookie, he's a first-year player. He was on the practice squad last year.

That shuffling you hear is Anthony Henry STARTING to clear out his locker...I could easily see him traded before the season...either way, this is his last year in Dallas

That's not true at all, Henry is a proven vet with ball hawk skills... Dallas will not trade him.

some of you are missing the business side of football...of course I don't KNOW what will happen....but if I am a team that is thin at CB...and Dallas has plenty...I am going to make them an offer....and Jerry would have to consider it, because I am of the belief that this is the last year for Henry in Dallas whether we trade him or not...so if you are Jerry, and you know this...you will consider a trade

I think Henry needs to stay on the field this year and make himself so well noticed they won't think about losing him. I'm not certain he can stay on the field. With better safety help he may get 10 ints if he can stay healthy. OW I think he could be in trouble. But that's assuming our CBs are going to be as good as most think.

Rookie CBs are a target. Even the best ones have to learn a lot.

My 'business' sense tells me that a 'Super Bowl team' is not in a hurry to make themselves weaker.

So unless they're getting a stud receiver in return, I can't see Henry going anywhere.

There's no reason.

Kevin Burnett: Mike Jenkins might be Defensive Rookie of Year

2:16 PM Thu, Aug 07, 2008 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz
Tim MacMahon

LB/blogger Kevin Burnett posted his thoughts on the Cowboys' defensive rookies, and he's awfully high on first-round CB Mike Jenkins.

Burnett predicts Jenkins will be in the running for the Defensive Rookie of the Year honor. Jenkins, who will take Terence Newman's place in the starting lineup in the preseason opener against San Diego, has a slightly more modest goal.

"I just want to go out there and show everybody that I am the best cornerback that came out in 2008," he said.

No he won't and he won't even be in the running. You've got to be a starter to have enough snaps to be in the running for something like that (unless your name is Marion Barber and the actual starter gets less snaps than you) He will be the 4th CB. You don't get Defensive Rookie of the Year being a 4th CB.

In the words of Parcells.......hold on let's not put him in the HOF just yet :laugh2:

Let's see him play a few games first.

Burnett blogged that if Jenkins gets on the field. Everyone should know by now that they can't put too much into what MacMahon puts out there.

This season should be incredible!

  • Our 4th string CB will win defensive rookie of the year.
  • Our 2nd string RB will win offensive rookie of the year.
  • Our 3rd string TE has every other team so scared they have soiled themselves (more on soiling later).
  • Our 6th string free agent rookie WR is ready to outplay Wes Welker.
  • Either of our punt returners won't bat an eye if the other team lines up with 6 punters on 4th down and each kick a ball.
  • Our secondary coach is prepared to coach with his pants around his ankles.
  • Our entire lineup will be able to absorb any punishing blow thanks to each player wearing 15 extra iT-shirt shirts under his uniform.
  • We gain an extra locker room motivational leader in Ray Lewis to pump us up (via phone) before each game.
  • Should players cramp up during the game we have a full stock of Charles Haley memorial phallic symbol bananas on hand.
  • Rowdy's arranging the private lap dances for Pacman so he doesn't risk a suspension by showing up the local strip club.
  • Martellus Bennett is completely trained in accident clean up procedures in the event that Willie Blade is resigned.

Wow. I almost forgot about that. Aaron Glenn would have been a lot better that Reeves last year. Giants game would have definitely ended differently.
