DMN College Blog: Limas Sweed on Dallas Visit

Wouldn't mind having him at 28 at all.

I want a Texas WR out of this draft, but I'd much rather it be Roy Williams...

I like Sweed, think he's a faster Keyshawn Johnson, but Roy is a proven commodity...

Sweed sucks! I saw him his whole career here in Texas... He has the size of Roy Williams yes, but he is half of the playmaker Roy W. was.

Believe me, he isn't worth a #1 or a #2 in my opinion. I honestly don't know what so many peoples fascination with him is really. He has the size, that's it. When I think of Sweed I think of Mike Williams. just not impressive.

Roy was the 7th overall pick, there's a reason for that.

I can't even begin to see how a Mike Williams comparison works, the two are nothing alike. Their careers have nothing in common.

I'm just saying I have seen him play more than once is all. The MW comparison is how I pictured the next level productivity... I'm just spouting off there I guess. What happens will be what happens. Simply put, I'm not much of a Sweed fan if you haven't caught my drift... which I believe you already have.

I looked through your posts and didn't see any comments from you about Malcom Kelly

What is your thoughts on him?

What about kelly vs sweed?

Are you a Longhorn fan?

Are they the only two receivers in this draft? :laugh2:

You think it's impossible to be skeptical of both of them?

Right now, however, I'd say there are more questions about Kelly than Sweed. I have a feeling there may be a better value than either of those guys at 28 though.

Besides Kelly, the only receiver I see as first round worthy is Desean Jackson and that might even be a reach.

If Ted Ginn can go top 10 though then Jackson is definetely worth a first rounder.

I see some guys who may work out ok in the slot. I wouldn't mind Early Doucet as a 3rd receiver.

That's an interesting series of opinions.

of all the WRs with a 1st round grade......Sweed is the only one I would be happy with us drafting.

with that being said, I don't want a WR in the 1st round.

I am more concerned with our secondary and RB depth.....I would rather see CB and RB addressed before WR.

Surprise, surprise.

hey, im not being a homer......

I have not seem Thomas play, so how can I pick him. I have seen Hardy and he is hot and cold. I have seen Jackson, Ted Ginn Jr Part 2. Malcolm Kelly is a product of the OU system, which seems to turn out subpar WRs and QBs into the NFL.

There haven't been many UT WRs I would pick in the draft....Roy was definitely one.....and now Sweed is one.

Even though I am a UT homer, Sweed and Charles are the only two Horns I am stoked about, especially Charles. If he is available in the 6th, and we have yet to address the position, I wouldn't be upset with Okam....but I would rather go after Red Bryant (PUKE), cause his potential is far greater.

If Hardy is "hot and cold" then Sweed is "luke warm and cold."

Except that Sweed was consistently good.. not like he disappeared for stretches.

Which is why he averaged less than 500 yards per season in college.

LOL. Aren't we looking for an eventual upgrade to Crayton? If these are his college numbers, this kid is going to disappear in the pros. He'll make Mike Williams look like a Pro Bowler!

I'm kidding, of course, but those numbers don't inspire a lot of confidence. Especially considering the competition.

I don't recall from watching him disappearing, but if those #'s are right well.. They didn't throw that much though in the first place, and spread the ball around to A LOT of receivers.

Amazing what a bunch of numbers without any context can do.

In 2006, before the injury, he also scored at least 1 TD in 10 of 13 games, if I just gave someone that stat on him, they'd think he was pretty consistent.

Not bad for a guy that was a high school tight end in the Wing T and a receiver in a Greg Davis offense. It's a wonder he can catch at all. Sweed needs A LOT of work on route running. A LOT

I don't think there's a receiver in this draft worth a first rounder.

If these numbers are legit, then I would not touch Sweed.
