I like Boldin, but is really a #1?

Take away Fitz and the double team he draws..... I dont know.

Boldin caught 101/1377/8td's in '03 without Fitz....I think he can handle it.

The question is, what would he be capable of doing with TO, Witten, Barber, and Felix Jones on the field at the same time? :p:

He was the 2004 Rookie of the year. In his first NFL game he had the most recieving yards for a rookie, 217. He also holds NFL records for most receptions in his first 26 games, and the fastest receiver to 300 catches. Boldin is that good. He has the best lower body strength of any other receiver in the league. He's built like a running back from the waist down.

I don't know what most of you guys are thinking, but we need a solid #2. It's funny that a lot of you think that we are fine with Hurd, Stanback, and Austin. If TO goes down (knock on a big piece of frekin wood) we are done! Do you guys actually think that if we lose Owens, even for a couple of games, we have the receivers to get it done? I think not.

If TO goes down, Crayton is your new #1. Then Hurd is your #2, and Stanback to the slot. We don't know if Austin can come back from that sprain and be 100% in 4-6 weeks. Plus he has never played, so it's not like he is just going to get on the field and be back to what we have seen in preseason, especially against 1st string talent!

I say if there is any chance whatsoever we try to get him, or Roy Williams. I know this topic has been beaten like a dead horse, but it will continue until we find the solution. We cannot afford to waste another year. I know #1's or even solid #2's don't grow on trees, but we have two wideouts that are disgruntled out there, and an owner that refuses to leave this topic alone even going into the 3rd preseason game.

Now please Jerry. Get it done.

It will not happen......too much $$$ for WR

Why do you say that? Wayne and Harrison are making eighteen million combined. In this day and age when virtually every NFL team is cap saavy, I am sure something can be worked out between both parties.

Nothing new to see here.

Yeah, this is just there so he can gripe about the Cowboys not following his oh so sage advice. Like they hadn't already asked around. If Arizona decides they do want to trade Boldin, I am sure that the Cowboys are on the short list....

Guess you've never heard of not taking no for an answer. :)

If T.O goes down with this current crop of wr's, so does the season. Plain and simple.

He'd open things up. Plain and simple, teams would have to account for the #2 out on the field. Nobody plans for a Crayton, Hurd or Austin attack.

You throw Boldin out there and teams would have no choice.

As far as the price to get him, I'm game with a 1st rounder. Look at the WRs picked in the 1st over the last few years and the list is full of crap. Getting a stud for what should be a bottom 10 pick is a absolute steal.

Our owner is still talking about this subject even in week 3 of the preseason.

Please Jerry. Find a way to get it done!

Didn't I see this post in another thread?

Anyway, my biggest issue with acquiring Boldin is salary cap numbers. We sign him, that is going to take quite a bit of cap space and remember, Ware, Columbo, Canty, and Tank are in line for new contracts.

I'd love to have Boldin here. But just being traded to another team isn't going to suddenly make him happy about his contract. He's going to want to sign a Fitzgerald-like deal wherever he goes, and I don't know that we can swing that and still have $$$ left to pay the guys on the roster that are waiting to get paid.

'Cowboys time to get Boldin is now'

Someone needs to write an article that states:

'Cowboys way to get Boldin is how?'

When someone figures that out, then they'll be on to something...
