CBA doesn't allow the players to be at the facility or in contact with coaches until sometime in April (IIRC). It's a huge disadvantage to teams with new coaching staffs because they can't even distribute skeleton playbooks to their players to precede OTAs. They are not even allowed at the facility.

That's why you see many QBs head things up and reserve fields to get with WRs, RBs, and TEs to get a jump on early season work. Manning is notorious for it and Romo has done it every year since the new CBA kicked in.

Yeah, according to the CBA if he were to work out on his own in Dallas he'd literally be on his own - he couldn't even work with any strength and conditioning coaches.

From the CBA:

Prior to the commencement of the Club’s official offseason workout program:... (iii) the Club’s strength and conditioning coaches may not direct players’ individual workouts, but may supervise use of the weight room to prevent injury and to correct misuse of equipment; and (iv) players’ activities may not be directed or supervised by any coaches.

What makes you say that? No one here has ever mentioned him as a bust. In fact, many have praised him in his performance in the last few games of the season and in the playoffs.

I wouldn't say folks called him a bust, but boy there were a number of threads with words like "disappointment" in them, because he didn't flash enough when he finally returned.

Have a few more years on you as I started following them in 60's . That said it's great to see someone who remembers the players who contributed to the team

That is truly awesome to be able to recall the inception of the Cowboys--all the greats ever to put on the Cowboys uniform.

Salute!

Harvey Martin basically was the Cowboys Haley of that time. According to the Cowboys records he had 15.5 sks in 1976, 23 in 1977, 16 in 1978. And that wasn't exactly a passing era.

Yes, I knew that , and that's why I would be very pleased to see him with that type of production.

They used to used the term " Martinized" - reference was a popular dry cleaning service - to describe his sacks....
