I get that your question was rhetorical but the point you are getting at that RKG is meaningless is false.

Huh?

My question wasn't rhetorical. I had forgotten what RKG means. Please stop trying to assume motivates. Just like sometimes the other team makes better plays than our team, sometimes posters ask questions because they simply seek an answer. Not everyone has a sinister motive. Besides, I'm fully capable of arguing a point - as I'm sure you've discovered by now. :)

This is not one of those times I have an agenda for asking a question.

Since no one has told you yet. RKG = "Right Kind of Guy"

edit - beat to the punch while I was typing lol.

I remember it being mentioned previously. I just forgot. Blame it on age or me not being into acronyms. ;)

Who said anything about sinister? If I was mistaken fair enough but the sentiment in question is hardly uncommon.

I'm not sure how many guys are actually in Dallas right now.

I really don't have a good sense of the timeframes involved. I have to remind myself that the season ended 10 days ago. I just keep thinking back to the players negotiating it so they could not be compelled to come to team facilities in the offseason as much.

Probably I would do well to look up a lot of those particulars.

I said sinister. Maybe that wasn't the appropriate word. Nevertheless, I was simply asking a question. Nothing more.

Lawrence showed some nice flashes, such as making plays at the end of games. I hope he can build on it.

If he doesn't come back looking bigger than Tyron, he failed.

I've always liked his mindset/disposition. He seems like a tough minded individual with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. If this guy fails, it will be due to a lack of talent and not effort. I can live with that from him. (The FO on the other hand...)

It's nice that he's working out hard and all, but doesn't he know that it's already been confirmed that he's a bust?

I'd prefer he be in Dallas working in the team but maybe the CBA doesn't allow that yet.

CBA doesn't allow the players to be at the facility or in contact with coaches until sometime in April (IIRC). It's a huge disadvantage to teams with new coaching staffs because they can't even distribute skeleton playbooks to their players to precede OTAs. They are not even allowed at the facility.

That's why you see many QBs head things up and reserve fields to get with WRs, RBs, and TEs to get a jump on early season work. Manning is notorious for it and Romo has done it every year since the new CBA kicked in.

I see Lawrence coming on in a steady fashion. I think he'll have a solid career. Nothing earth shattering, but he'll be good if he stays healthy.

If he can be " Greg Ellis" " Jim Jeffcoat" then I'm ok. I don't expect Charles Haley....

Of course there's always throwback Harvey Martin, which would be very good....

You nailed it with some really great comparisons. That's exactly where I was going.

You sound about my age. I remember the days of Harvey Martin and Jim Jeffcoat pretty well. That was about the time when I truly became a fan of the Cowboys. From about 1980 to present day. I was around 6 years old.

Have a few more years on you as I started following them in 60's . That said it's great to see someone who remembers the players who contributed to the team

Harvey Martin basically was the Cowboys Haley of that time. According to the Cowboys records he had 15.5 sks in 1976, 23 in 1977, 16 in 1978. And that wasn't exactly a passing era.

What makes you say that? No one here has ever mentioned him as a bust. In fact, many have praised him in his performance in the last few games of the season and in the playoffs.
