DMN: Felix Jones will no longer return kicks

If this means he's getting the majority of the carries in the running game (and he's at 100%), I'm all for it.

The only thing that kills me about Witten, is his RAC or YAC is almost nonexistent this year.

I've never thought of Jason Witten as a big time run after the catch guy.

Witten is a little like former Cowboy Daryl Johnston in that he often goes nowhere after a catch and often takes a good lick in the process.

Yes, his big plays are down this year with defenses keying on him so much and his average is ugly, but his reception total is still in line with where it has been the last few years.

That indicates adjusting to the new attention and still making the catch, not every player can do that.

Witten should get some deeper receptions soon with the emergence of Miles Austin and hopefully, Roy Williams.

Edit: Why is Rossum still on the team?

He's injured.

Releasing him would require an injury settlement and be more of a hassle than it's worth.

He'll be inactive until healthy and then likely get cut and told to stay ready in case we need him to come back at some point.

Ok, I ran the numbers. Witten has been targeted 15 times on 3rd down. Two of those plays were nullified by penalty, one offensive, one defensive (giving Dallas a first down). On the other 13 3rd down targets, all were completions, but only 9 actually resulted in a first down.

Average YAC this season for some of the top tight ends in the NFC --

Jason Witten 3.95
Vernon Davis 3.50
Tony Gonzalez 3.16
Jeremy Shockey 3.12
Greg Olsen 2.47
Kellen Winslow 2.00

Just to confirm, this was sarcasm right?

"I feel like we're not getting those plays down the field as much for whatever reason," Witten said. "I don't think there's one thing that you can look at and say that's what's triggering it, but a lot of it is underneath [passes]."

This guy is a prima donna and cancerous, i tell you.

Why would you go ahead and do that for?

You're such a party pooper Adam.

Show off!

I've already stated this, but I'd rather see Austin back there than anyone else.

good, yes he has blinding speed and is an outstanding homerun threat but I was worried he was going to break a knee everytime he returned one

It's always funny to see how the media thinks about causality.

X must be causing Z. And then they give a stat to back it up.

The BRACE is the problem, not the actual injury. Riiiiiiiiight.

I just hope KO can hold onto the ball.
Hopefully he learned from the bobble out of bounds on that last kickoff he returned. That should've been a wake up call.

I was looking at Felix vs Carolina, check out his speed @ :56
And then he got hurt(?) speed difference is noticeable on that last play even though he came close to taking it to the house.

I can hardly wait for this kid to be 100%.

I think hes too important for that. I don't like having a starting WR back there for kick offs.

If this stat is accurate, that's truly remarkable.

...and truely predictable for an opposing Def. coor.......possibly why the steelers were able to jump the pass to Witten late in the game last yr for a pik 6 to seal the win....

They've had way more than 13 third down situations. Just because it's successful doesn't mean Witten is the only player we go to on third down. Look at Ogletree last week. This offense is stacked. I don't think the Cowboys have been predictable at all.

It's not...there was one last week off the top of my head that was completed but short of the 1st.
