DMN: George: If the Cowboys part ways with Kiffin, there is a good chance they lose Marinelli

Firing Ryan was the height of idiocy. But Kiffin's got nothing left in the tank, and his passive scheme is suck city. I'm fine keeping a 4-3, but the zone-first approach doesn't cut it.

I don't know if Ryan is really a lot better. But we should have kept him instead of going the way we did. Lovie Smith was a better option than Kiffin. Hell a lot of college guys are probably better options than Kiffin.

I think the players do . . . most of them hold him in high regard and have nothing but praise for his methods. That'd be a valuable member to lose on any coaching staff. We need more of those.

who cares what the players think, they get paid to play, regardless of the coach. They have no say so, and shouldn't.

That's the best rationale you've got?

"Kiffin is a better defensive coordinator than you!"

What is this, kindergarten?

Kindergarten is putting an opinion out in the world as if you have a real insight to the reality of the situation.

From my understanding of you as a poster I don't believe you have ever spent anytime with this game from the sidelines. It one of the reason why I believe you are so quick to blame Kiffin.

If you want to make a claim that someone should be fired because they are a bad coach then it would be respectful and not kindergarten to base your opinion on some shared common experience that alludes to your ability to make such a judgement.

You are clearly confusing this issue....emotionally wrapping yourself up in Kiffin's identity and making the coach's critics the same as your critics. Wake up! This isn't your little league. I do sympathize with your job in today's whacko world, but this issue has nothing to do with you and out-of-control parents.

Kiffin's defense not only sits 32nd in the league in yards per game, but the Cowboys aren't even close to the next worst team. We've had massive regression by several key players. The players have lost all hope and confidence.

We do have weak personnel. We have had lots of injuries. But Kiffin's approach and presence hasn't helped. You sure don't hear any players rally to support the guy. And in case some people have forgotten...the man is nearing a decade past the time when people begin retirement. He needs to begin his. Monday, December 30.

I attend quite a few coaching clinics here in Canada and sometime venture to attend one in the US. They have been great sessions allowing a no one like me to rub shoulders with not only lower level college, but D1 college, CFL and NFL coaches.

It gives me no more credibility than I have from anything I have done before, but it has taught me to be mindful with opening my mouth in an area as technical, complex and difficult as coaching professional football.

At no time have we heard anyone on the Cowboys defensive side say Kiffin has to go. We actually have no proof that Kiffin has lost the locker room.

What I can do is put up quote after quote showing professionalism in the approach of the players to their present plight. I think this is Garrett's doing and the culture that pervades the team.

Please enlighten me on the massive regression of several players. I think it would be beneficial for you and I to present our debate with video on any players you choose to pick.

We'll break down plays and see if the regression was due to Kiffin or if the player was already exhibiting either issues with injury or was already showing signs he was a dud and Kiffin was stuck with him.

I'm prepared to put the work in before opening my mouth if you are willing to do the same.

That's stupid reasoning. So we should be satisfied eating crap because it's better than nothing.

There's nothing stupid about it at all.

What's stupid is using the same thinking and expecting different results.

We got rid of the Phillips crap. Then pitched over the Ryan crap. Now we want to ditch the Kiffin crap.

Do you understand the implications of all this crap pitching?

For the Cowboys this means walking away from the fundamental coaching trees of Bum and Wade Phillips, Rob and Rex Ryan and Monte Kiffin, Lovie Smith and company.

How many defensive systems do you turn your back on before you have nothing left, but to recycle the retreads.

Why would you not consider, truly consider the weight the injuries have had this year and ask if this is a time for patience. Even one more year?

What are you fearful of? The Cowboys having another season out of the playoffs? There's got to be more to life than that?

Kindergarten is putting an opinion out in the world as if you have a real insight to the reality of the situation.

Leagues worst defense isn't opinion. Far from it. Opinion is trying to give an outdated coach and concept a free pass. That's your opinion.

From my understanding of you as a poster I don't believe you have ever spent anytime with this game from the sidelines. It one of the reason why I believe you are so quick to blame Kiffin.

Please feel free to provide for us your detailed coaching resume if you'd like to.

If you want to make a claim that someone should be fired because they are a bad coach then it would be respectful and not kindergarten to base your opinion on some shared common experience that alludes to your ability to make such a judgement.

32nd ranked defense, multiple 400 yard passers allowed, franchise records for yards and points allowed.

I don't need anything else.

You keep your attempted excuses, and I'll hang my hat on actual results.

Results that are terrible.

Again, show us your coaching resume showing where you're some better-informed authority on the topic?

I'll wait.

Well bye. I like Maranelli and he doesn't deserve to be fired but if getting rid of Kiffin means getting rid of him? Bye.

Good, clean house, Garrett included. Or make more excuses next year.

It will be the same old song and dance after the season is over...(TONIGHT). Injuries caused us to go 8-8 for the 3rd year,we would have won if romo was healthy the last game...give KIFFIN another year...Garrett has what is takes give him time. BLAH BLAH BLAH. Nothing will change at all trust me. The excuses will be flying come midnight on the EAST COAST.

Due to my interest in coaching youth football I take the opportunity here in Canada to attend coaching clinics in my local area and at least one in other Canadian provinces and some in the northern United States.

I coach youth football, but to me the concepts and dynamics are fairly similar with the exception of the pay.

The latest one I attended was one this past spring on our province. It featured a gentleman who is a fairly good expert on being a NFL HC and was able to share some of his thoughts on a topic I was particularly interested in...Monte Kiffin. The coach's name is Pat Ruel and we shared a seat together at the luncheon and talked more NFL shop later in the evening social.

In the past 8 years of coaching and attending clinics held by Football Saskatchewan and Football Canada I have had the pleasure to meet Kirby Wilson, sad about his unfortunate accident, Mike Pettine, Marc Trestman (was with the Alouettes at the time and we talked about his 49er days, Bill Cowher (had to talk about the Superbowls), Dennis Simmons (talked at length about Wade Phillips and Music City Miracle) and I can't remember the one gentleman who was working with Sam Bradford the year he became the #1 draft pick. He was helping Sam get ready for the combine by working on his fundamentals, because he retired from NFL coaching.

I have a keen interest in the NFL. Also a very strong interest in becoming a better coach for the kids I am involved with hence my desire to attend these clinics.

What I have found out is that you can't spend time and talk at length to these people, college and pro coaches and not get a glimpse of an understanding of what they go through in their professions and the challenges they face.

I am not an NFL coach, but I have spent enough time in front of them to understand that fan criticism of them is more often than not unwarranted and the measurement fans use to determine if one is a good coach worthy of a job is not the same metric used by the coaching community.

Here's a electronic copy of the clinic I attended with Pat. I highly suggest any fan join a clinic in their local area if not just for the deeper dive in what it is like to be a football coach.

This is not a formal professional resume, but I have spent time, effort and money to improve myself in this area for the benefit of the kids I interact with and for my understanding of the sideline hobby I have dedicated a portion of my life to.

If you need further proof I originally posted for some guidance when it all started for me in 2006.

I hope you are able to see or at consider a different view of the coaches on this team and more importantly view results through more than one lens.

Disagreements aside, I very much appreciate your investment in youth football.
