DMN Gosselin Chat - I'm not sure (Garrett) is regarded across the NFL as a great hire

Many of you are so sensitive. Of course he is a question mark. He was OC/assistant HC for a team that dramatically underachieved. So they went 5-3? They were supposed to be 13-3.

He is no slam dunk. Of course, there aren't many of those though.

I agree 100 percent. NO ONE wants to talk about the 1-7 where the O ran the same vanilla plays he's ran for the last 2 years. Once Wade got fired new plays came out and the old vanilla plays decreased 10 fold.

This was a setup job from start to finish. I do NOT know why Wade would accept a job to work for Al Davis Jr.

Welcome to your new puppet Jason GAYrett

lol.

I can't say I agree with all your points but keep it coming, you seem to be a perfect balance to the blue, silver, and red glasses guys are wearing these days.

Garrett earned the job, he got the guys to play hard, and he's obviously a refreshing change of pace from Wade. His intelligence is his best assett, he's incredibly organized, has been a part of championship teams, but I don't know if this group of guys is going to buy into his philosophies long term.

They went 33-15 for Wade, and won 2 division titles. Then completely folded on him. Hopefully Garrett will be able to keep their attention. That's why he got Rob Ryan, its more about perception than it is production in coaching. You can be a great Xs and Os guy but you've got to have a coach guys want to play for, and rally around. That's my biggest area of concern, does Garrett have the type of personality that seems to be effective in the league today. Typically young, passionate, firey, players coaches, that guys want to win for.

Keep posting though man.

And if it doesn't work the excuses will be the best part.:D

They don't want to blame Jerry for anything, they won't blame Red, I'm sure they'll finally turn on the players.

Granted they deserve a lot of the blame, I can't say that the guys buying the groceries are putting together the best recipe for success. This previous offseason really irked me, so much arrogance on the part of Jerry, not bringing in a single FA, and thank goodness for Dez and Lee falling well past their expected draft position or we would've been in even worse shape.

what you quoted is what you think is needed and is a good post?

and you are generalizing everyone who likes garrett with one broad brush and doing the same thing you claim to not like.

and the perception comment about coaches, well that is just so foolish I wont even bother to comment on it any further.

Good read. I fully expected some of the responses on here despite the article actually being very fair and objective.

Nah I was encouraging a new guy with a sensationalized approach to tone it down some and post more.

And it is pretty easy to generalize the Garrett crowd, there are about 4-5 guys that are bordering comical when it comes to their position on Garrett. On a Cowboys website, they might come across as sane or homers, but from an unbiased fan perspective it looks a little ridiculous.

And how is my stance on coaches foolish?

Raheem Morris is good with Xs and Os? How about Tomlin? Rex Ryan's great with defense, but his guys play for him because of his personality. Jim Harbaugh is another example.

Sure you have your Reid's, Belichick's, Coughlins, that are old school kinda guys - but it seems to me that recently, this generation of players are responding to that brand of coach.

Hey goose, stick to the draft.

Mother Goose is covering his six. He is on record during the season as saying Jerry would hire Cower or Gruden because Jerry could not sale Garrett to the fans. He thought Jerry would hire Cower & cede some contol over to him. He also said Jerry likes to make a splash. So, Goose was wrong & will bash the Garrett hire every chance he gets. It's his agenda now.

Ofcourse he's not a good hire, Jason Garret is a back pocket puppet boy in Jerrys' sweaty wallet.

Players, Coaches, Fans, Announcers, Owners and GMs around the NFL know full well he was so terrible performing as Offensive Coordinator for the Cowboys that Ray Lewis had jokes in post game interviews.

Other players have noted the simplicity of Deadhead Red and his sub par ability as a play caller.

There isn't another team in the NFL who would hire him, even as an Offensive Coordinator.
