Oh my gosh.

Wake up. Seriously.

Honestly how long do you think this man has been playing on the O Line. I don't see how its so hard to pick up on blocking schemes.

Yes I know this. It shouldn't be to hard to pick up at least for a professional athlete tht is.

you can't even give the guy a solid week...

it's not just picking up the scheme, but he has to work and be comfortable w/ the guys lining up next to him, esp. the C

it's gonna take at least 2 weeks for him to get comfortable, might take him longer

we run a pretty simple 3-4 scheme, and it took Tank Johnson 9 games (8 reg., 1 postseason) and didn't become truly comfortable until this offseason

Is every team's terminology the same?

Dude, what you suggest is foolish. No joke.

I can but its not my fault he is a slow learner.

he hasn't been in Dallas for more than a week, so you can't

and he's going from a zone-blocking scheme to a man one

good thing he worked in our scheme before in New Orleans, so he'll be ready pretty soon

Read this part once more...

QUOTED from original post,,,

"Holland said the Cowboys' playbook is considerably different from the Broncos', but it's similar to the Saints' playbook, which is where he spent the first four seasons of his career.

"I'm trying to group things from New Orleans and compare them to Dallas," he said. "There's some different terminology, but I'll get it down."

Tank Johnson played in a 4-3 and was suspended for 8 weeks before then so thats a bad example IMO. Still the man is a NFL caliber player I'm pretty sure if we throw him out there he'd be able to handle it. I think if the cowboys gave him more reps it would help his comfort level don't you think ?????

Tank is not an O-lineman. He also was allowed to practice with the team leading up the suspension being lifted.

I really like this trade, Holland is a player... I believe he'll eventually be the starter next to big Flo and Dre.

You're right, he is a player. This is the environment that will help him take his game to the next level. The style of blocking too. He gets nasty with D-Linemen, about time we find more nasty blockers. Geeez once he's acquainted Witten, Barber and Cricket even crunch bones. D's are gonna pay wit their health, now that's power football.

I know bob used that as an example not me.

he switched schemes

that's exactly what Holland is doing

thanks for illustrating my point

he's had what? 1 practice as a Cowboy? so I do think more reps would improve his comfort level, the same as being here for more than 4 or 5 days

I don't think that is an accurate assessment nor viable.

why not?

is Holland not switching from an old scheme to a new one, that he had to learn?

did not Tank switch from an old scheme to a new one, that he had to learn?

The difference favourably for us is that Montrae's been playing football and is in FB shape where Tank was suspended, didn't play for a while and wasn't in shape. Playbook is another story of course but being in shape is first and foremost. I like Montrae's odds alot, he's a mauler and playing between 2 perrenial pro bowlers.

I understand where your coming from Boys4life. However, when your dealing with our franchise QB you better be sure the guy understands the scheme and terminology. He may very well be able to come in this first week and have a positive impact; but you are risking too much if you let him play. The last thing we need is the good ol UT boy crushing Romo.

but Tank didn't blame his struggles on being out of shape

it was learning the scheme

Please don't feed the troll... You guys need to see where he's coming from, it's his job to create such emotional responses.
