DMN: Marty B making more of a fool of our team

No one on here knows how he grew up and the rap culture is something that's embedded within. You can't just turn it off. Let's just say it's a lot easier to turn it off at age 40 versus age 21...

I'm 39 and it's still deeply embedded in me...

Cue the lame jokes from the usual suspects. :D
You better watch your back, Bleu. Listening to that CD with the parental advisory sticker is only gonna get you dead or in jail!

Long live the underground!!

Bennett doesn't deserve to be crucified for this, but I also don't think he needs any apologists on this matter.

It is what it is. A bad decision -- albeit one with essentially no harm committed -- that provides this franchise another embarrassment.

What gets me is the greater context of his rap and how it adds to the list of unwanted attention. What's next, Jason Witten growing a 'stache and starring in a porno? Bobby Carpenter undergoing a sex change? Tony Curtis making waves for more playing time?

So your take on the situation is the only right one and anyone who says it is no big deal is an apologist?

Really? Who made you hall monitor?

No, I need to become a bigger Samuel Huntington fan.

I haven't read any Marxist literary works, let alone Marx's.
Shouting out to Sam Huntington!

The most ignorant thing about you defending him is that you are trying to say it was done in the 'spur of the moment'.

It wasn't.

It was a thought out process.

He thought about the lyrical content.

He thought about the helmet being in the video to rep the Cowboys.

He thought about the bottle of champagne.

He thought about doing all this and then putting it on the largest video sharing website in the world.

This wasn't done in a the blink of an eye where his excuse could be that he 'wasn't thinking for a split second'.

It's more to the fact that he had a plan and then followed thru with the plan.
Dont put words in my mouth. I never said it was at the spur of the moment. I said he was a young dumb rich kid who came from a lifestyle who's acting like a young dumb rich kid who came from that lifestyle. I dont hold him to the standards of a guy who's been in the spotlight for years and is already in his late 20's. You do.

He's a cusser, He's a rapper, He's a drive-by victim. I see the dots connecting before me. Atleast he'll have the helmet to protect him. :tu

Yes, because we all know that folk singers are the ones getting capped.

Martellus is part of a culture which you people consider barbaric, or at least, something shameful.

If he made a country music song about the rapture and defending Israel everyone would love him.
It's not an outside culture. It's a different culture, inside.

Oh.. I feel you on that. It definitely pales in comparison to what once was but there's still plenty of good stuff out there. I particularly like the down south style.

That's an excuse. Regardless of environment, people do not live in a vacuum. Only the amoral can even attempt to use that as an excuse. If you are aware of the choices that you are going to make, you either take action or you do not.

Bennett knew exactly what he was doing and he understands some or all of the consequences of his actions. It doesn't make him amoral. It simply solidifies that fact that he doesn't care enough to care. Big difference.

I guess it's ok for them to do it just as long as it looks like this: ****

Exactly. Damn... How many on this board were millionaires at age 21???... He's a freaking kid. The media strikes again...

:hammer:

Tell me about it. Geez.

And he were all along thinking you were just the president of the 'T.O. Fan Cub'.

But now we find out it's that you are just part of the 'The media make a big deal out of everything and the players can do whatever they want as long as they are wearing the blue star on their helmet' club.

Did you show this video to your kids yet?

Rap and bad content go hand in hand - you can't really have one without the other.
There's no real "defending" of this, but I really don't think it's a huge deal. He made a fool of himself when he defied the Garrett's on HBO. He rebounded from that nicely. This is whatever. It's offseason foolishness, that he probably worked up in his friends recording studio in a day.

Ignorant post of the day.

To continue, I didn't see the video but I suspect there are more harmful things being done to hurt the Cowboys than one of its players doing a rap song.

If the Dallas Cowboys were in the Super Bowl this Sunday, I doubt Martellus Bennetts's crappy rapping would be an issue.

But since the team is medicore, negative news is being reported daily and its rap, people will make a huge issue out of it.

Also, there was footage posted on this very forum of Martellus Bennett ripping the crap out of one of his teammates and it definately didn't get this type of attention. Now that teammate was Bobby Carpenter but he is still a member of the team and I have a bigger problem with this type of behavior than a wannabe rapper.

If you're excusing making racial, gender and homosexual slurs, well, yeah, I'd say you're an apologist.

I'll grant you that no one was harmed by his usage of the words, I'd imagine, but that doesn't make it any more excusable to say them.

And this thing is most certainly a black eye -- for a few days, at least -- for this already floundering franchise.

And if you don't like it -- get back to class and stay out of my hall. :laugh2:

the down south style is the biggest reason rap is dead right now. seriously how many different ways can you say "get crunk" tell a woman to shake her butt, and talk about those stupid grillz. Luda was good when he 1st came out but now he sucks too. Rap is dead.

It also means he's a kid that was having fun. Unfortunately he made the wrong decision and put it out there on YT. That's no different than any other youngster nowadays... Making a YT video is normal for them. That said, he still could have made a better choice but there's no need to crucify him.

Wake up. Our players are saints and the media is evil. If you disagree, get out and go hang out with Dwayne Goodrich in prison.

Or something like that.

He's been living in the world for more than 20 years.

He's been a professional football player for about a year now.

You act like he was just born yesterday or that he just arrived on this planet. He knew there were going to be haters on this and he is welcoming it.

He made a choice. Now, he will face the consequences of a negative media backlash and/or Jerry Jones tongue lashing (if only that). This is the cross which he consciously made for himself. You or anyone else can't help him suffer any less because of it.

I'm totally shocked by this behavior...

Why can't he just be a good citizen and father a bunch of kids out of wedlock like Mr. All America Tom Brady...:lmao:
