DMN: Message to Spears?

I sure hope he picks it up........don't understand this player

I agree. this is year 3 and if Spears is ever going to turn things around I think it has to start this season.

JJ had no real opinion on the RBs and defered to BP. BP thought Kevin Jones was the best of them; he considered Jackson, Julius, Tatum Bell all about the same value. When Buffalo called up and offered that pick, BP was happy since he figured one of those backs would be available and the extra future#1 was worth more. By the time our 2nd rd pick came up Jackson, K Jones and Bell had all been taken. So that is how we got Julius. There was never really much chance of us getting Jackson. We were much morelikely to have gotten K Jones, who has been injured a lot, or Bell, who I think is on his third team.

Supposedly Wade said he wanted a longer look at Spears and that is why he played so much. If that is true its not good for Spears.

That would be my interperetation. Why take the chance on hurting a guy that you are counting on as a starter in the last preseason game? The only reason I can come up with is that the coach isn't so convinced he should be the starter - or at least a mainstay on the D-line.

Actually they were targeting Jackson. I think Jerry told Jackson that they would draft him if he fell to them. Jackson thought he was gonna be a Cowboy and was disappointed that they past on him. It's just they thought the offer was too good to pass up (a number #1 next year from the Bills.)

I'm not sure what the truth really is in this case, probably never will, but there were a few reporters that stated that we would've selected Kevin Jones had we not traded the pick.

Spear's knows his back is aganist the wall,he will have a good year. From working The Jason Hatcher football camp with him this past summer, got to spend sometime with him.He will come out, and play hard.
